The comeback is real: Egypt and Mike new shows are filming in Spain, Panama and beyond — and the biggest unanswered question in home TV is the one nobody will say out loud. So we’re saying it.

Let’s talk about it, because somebody should go first: Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson are in the middle of one of the most interesting comebacks on television, and the most fascinating part of the story is a blank space. Two new shows are filming. Neither one has a home — or if it does, nobody’s telling.
First, what we actually know. HGTV cancelled Married to Real Estate in 2025, and by the couple’s own telling they got the news just after coming home from a family vacation in the Mediterranean — a blindside that landed in the middle of a network shakeup that axed several shows at once. Plenty of hosts would have quietly gone back to their day jobs. Egypt and Mike went back to work instead. In an interview with USA Today published April 20, 2026, per People, they announced two new series in production: Home Abroad with Egypt and Mike, a travel-meets-real-estate show, and Deserving Design, a give-back series built around designing for people who deserve it. “These projects speak to our desire to help people, to build legacy and to use real estate and design to build impact,” Sherrod said.
And the cameras really are rolling. Sherrod told OK! Magazine in May, per People, that Home Abroad had already filmed in Spain, Panama and Oaxaca, Mexico, with Vietnam next — her checking out the architecture and house prices while Mike, in her words, pushes her toward the boats, the jet skis and the adventures. In August, she posted a behind-the-scenes filming video on Instagram with a caption that doubled as a mission statement, per TV Insider: “Sometimes a setback is a setup for a QUANTUM LEAP. We are back to business. New show loading.” The couple has said both shows are set for release later in 2026.
Now here is the fact — the only hard fact — underneath all of it: no network or platform has been announced for either show. Not by the couple, not by any network. Through every interview from April to now, that one detail has stayed unrevealed. Which is where this desk gets to speculate — and we are labeling it exactly that: speculation, our read of the board, not a report.
Egypt and Mike New Shows: Four Doors That Could Open
Door one: an HGTV return. The case for it is simple — that is where their audience lives, and four seasons of Married to Real Estate built a loyal one. The case against is just as simple: HGTV is the network that cancelled them, in a cost-cutting wave, barely a year ago. A quick reversal would be a great story and a strange negotiation.
Door two: Magnolia Network. The fit is real — design-forward, lifestyle-driven, a brand built on warmth, and a give-back series like Deserving Design would slide right into that lineup. The honest catch: Magnolia’s reach is smaller than HGTV’s, and there’s no known history between the couple and the Gaines’ empire.
Door three: OWN. Oprah’s network has built its name on exactly the kind of grounded, aspirational Black family programming Egypt and Mike represent — remember, Sherrod has said part of Married to Real Estate’s mission was showing a Black family whose marriage worked, “without all the reality drama tied to it.” The catch: OWN’s home-and-renovation bench is thin compared to its relationship and drama slate, so this would be a bet on the couple over the genre.
Door four: a streamer — or their own lane entirely. This is the dark horse we keep coming back to. The couple already runs their own YouTube channel and podcast, and Sherrod pointed out to OK! that the new shows film fast — where Married to Real Estate took nearly a year to shoot 12 episodes, “we literally can do three seasons in a year now.” That kind of speed and control suits a streaming or digital-first deal. The catch is discovery: no premiere-night spotlight, no network promo machine.
Why does the landing spot matter this much? Because this audience didn’t just watch a renovation show — they followed a family. Where Egypt and Mike land decides how big the premiere is, who finds them, and whether the comeback reads as a return or a reinvention. So now it’s your turn: where do YOU want them to land — back home at HGTV, a fresh start at Magnolia or OWN, or off on their own? Tell us in the comments. The moment a network is actually announced, you’ll read it here — as fact, sourced, the way it should be.
