Bryan and Sarah Baeumler get 12 weeks to transform Port Alberni, B.C. — homes, businesses, and all — as the Napiers’ franchise crosses the border for the first time.

The Baeumlers have renovated houses. They’ve renovated an entire island resort. Now HGTV is handing them a whole town and a deadline.
Home Town Takeover Canada premieres Sunday, October 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on HGTV in Canada (streaming on Citytv+), with Bryan and Sarah Baeumler leading a full-scale revitalization of Port Alberni, British Columbia — a Vancouver Island community chosen from hundreds of Canadian towns that applied, per Rogers Sports & Media. Homes, businesses, and public spaces are all on the list, with the town’s Harbour Quay among the civic projects getting a makeover. “We have 12 weeks to renovate the homes and businesses of people in Port Alberni,” Sarah says in the show’s trailer coverage, per EntertainmentNow. Bryan’s mission statement is pure Baeumler: “We need to help the people that are already working hard to change this town.”
If you’re wondering why Ben and Erin Napier aren’t hosting their own franchise’s road trip, there’s a genuinely interesting reason. The production company behind the series, RTR Media, is Canadian — and as Erin explained to CinemaBlend last December, a Canadian broadcast show has to be hosted by Canadian talent. “Because we are Americans, we are not legally allowed to host the show,” she said. “We can only be in it as, like, guest stars.” Ben and Erin do appear — the trailer shows them on stage with the Baeumlers telling Port Alberni it was selected — alongside a guest lineup that includes Scott McGillivray, Sarah Keenleyside, Andy Hay, Emily Michelle, and Ashley Callingbull, per the Rogers announcement.
It’s a passing of the sledgehammer that makes sense. The Baeumlers are Renovation Island royalty: their Bahamas resort, Caerula Mar Club, is open and expanding, their spinoff Renovation Island: The Adventure Continues premiered in June, and taking on a community rebuild is the one renovation flex they hadn’t done yet. Rogers announced them as hosts back in June, and the couple said in a statement they’re “thrilled to deepen our partnership with HGTV and shine a light on the Canadian stories we know viewers love.”
One caveat for U.S. fans: so far, HGTV has announced the series for Canada only — no U.S. airdate yet, per EntertainmentNow, though the comments on Sarah’s October 11 behind-the-scenes post (“The wait is almost over!”) are full of American viewers asking for one. Given the original Home Town Takeover has taken on three U.S. towns since 2020, a stateside run feels like a matter of time.
October 25. Twelve weeks. One town. Two Baeumlers. Set the reminder.
