R. Kelly Was Placed On Suicide Watch!
Things are getting serious for fallen R&B king R. Kelly. It has been reported that Kellz took his guilty verdict so badly that he was placed on suicide watch. Get more details on why Kelly was put on suicide watch…
CelebnMusic247.com reports that Steve Greenberg told U.S. District Judge Harry Leinenweber that “after he was found guilty [R. Kelly] was placed under suicide watch,” according to the Chicago Tribune.
Greenberg made the shocking claims in court in Chicago following his racketeering conviction in New York back in September.
Kelly’s attorney Steve Greenberg did not specify whether he was truly at risk of harming himself, but Greenberg did share that it was common practice for federal prison facilities to monitor the emotional well-being of recently convicted inmates. The provision has since been lifted.
Kelly is preparing to ramp up his legal team to help fight the charges in his New York Case.
Fast forward to now, the suicide watch has been removed.
R. Kelly is due to stand trial there, where he is accused of 13 further sex crimes, including producing child pornography and conspiring to intimidate victims and conceal evidence. Kelly has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Kelly will be sentenced in May 2022 and his Chicago trial will now not begin until August 2022.
Robert Kelly was found guilty of all nine counts of sex trafficking and racketeering in New York and is facing life in prison.
If he is given a long prison sentence, he has a slim chance of the Chicago trial being dropped — but it’s not likely.
