Staind Seether Ontario Concert Review: 25 Years of ‘Break the Cycle’ at Toyota Arena

Staind Seether Ontario concert review: four bands, one indoor arena, and a setlist built like a time capsule. The Break the Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour rolled into Toyota Arena on October 10, and the Inland Empire showed up like it was 2001 again.

Staind Seether Ontario Concert Review: The Night’s Biggest Moments

Some tours are victory laps. This one is a reunion with the record that raised a generation of rock-radio kids. Staind’s Break the Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour pulled into Toyota Arena in Ontario on Saturday, October 10 — one of the last stops on a 2026 leg that wraps October 19 in Austin, per Consequence — with Seether as direct support and Hoobastank and Hinder opening a four-band bill that reads like a 2000s rock festival in a single night. Doors were at 5 p.m. for a 6 p.m. start, per the venue’s event listing, and Ontario was ready to pay for the privilege: SeatGeek listed get-in prices around $175, the highest of the entire fall leg, where most stops went for under $60.

Hinder kicked the night off at 6 p.m., and per setlist.fm their seven-song sprint was pure radio memory lane — “All American Nightmare,” “Homecoming Queen,” “Without You” and, of course, “Lips of an Angel” before closing with “Get Stoned.” Hoobastank followed, and the venue’s own Instagram caught the nostalgia mid-set, posting from the floor with the only review that matters: “tell me this doesn’t take you back.”

Then Seether walked out and reminded everybody that “support act” is just a billing technicality. Per setlist.fm, Shaun Morgan and company opened with “Stoke the Fire” and “Truth,” then dug into “Let You Down,” “Wasteland” and “Words as Weapons” before the one-two gut punch of “Fine Again” and “Driven Under.” Ontario got a slightly different Seether than Wheatland did the night before — “Wasteland,” “Words as Weapons” and “Driven Under” rotated in while “Gasoline,” “Dangerous,” “Country Song” and “Rise Above This” sat this one out, per setlist.fm’s listings for both nights. The closing run — “Pig,” “Lost All Control,” “Fake It” and a finale of “Remedy” — is eleven songs with zero wasted motion, and it’s the same approach Canadian Beats praised at the sold-out Toronto stop, where Seether’s set was described as a muscular, deliberate performance built on dark, surging riffs rather than theatrics.

Staind closed the night the way this tour was designed to be closed: heavy on the album on the marquee. Per setlist.fm, seven of the twelve songs came straight off Break the Cycle — the set opened with “Open Your Eyes” and rolled through “Warm Safe Place,” “Fade,” “Raining Again,” “Everything Changes,” “Take It” and “Suffer” before reaching outside the anniversary record for “Right Here,” “So Far Away” and “Outside.” The final two songs were the whole thesis statement: “It’s Been Awhile” — the biggest rock song of 2001, full stop — straight into the Dysfunction-era snarl of “Mudshovel.” Ontario’s set was a touch leaner than the surrounding dates; “Something to Remind You” and “Pressure,” played in Wheatland and Phoenix, didn’t make the Ontario list, per setlist.fm. If there’s a complaint to file, it’s that one.

The venue’s own verdict, posted with its photo recap of the night, is hard to argue with: Hinder, Hoobastank and Seether “set the stage on fire before Staind closed it out with an unforgettable set,” and “from start to finish, the energy was unreal.” That tracks with everything this tour has been. Announcing the 2027 second leg, Staind said of the first run, “We didn’t think one was enough, and based off how it’s been going… we were right. The first half sold out so don’t wait,” per ThePRP. Ontario — one of just two indoor arena stops on a leg of amphitheaters — got the intimate version of a show built for sheds, and by every account that surfaced, it landed.

Verdict: A four-band time machine that earns its nostalgia — Seether’s lean, mean eleven songs were the night’s high-water mark, and Staind’s Break the Cycle core still hits like it did 25 years ago. One star off for the trimmed headlining set. ★★★★/5
