Today (Nov 30) an official statement was released on Paul Walker’s Facebook confirming his passing after a fatal car crash.

UPDATE: Vin Diesel says goodbye to his bro, Paul:

The Fast and Furious star, Paul Walker, passed at the early age of 40 as fans are in a frenzy trying to know if the news is true.

Paul’s rep just released a statement about his death, and says “He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives.” Witnesses on the scene originally said they thought the car was Paul’s … but have since confirmed it was not.

The rep added that Paul was “attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide.”

Paul had been with friends taking them out for test drives in his new Porsche when the accident occurred. A friend of his was driving but lost control of the vehicle.

Paul’s rep had this to say about his passing:

Sadly, I must confirm that Paul did pass away this afternoon.  I don’t have an official statement at this time.”

Additionally, Santa Clarita’s Sheriff’s Station confirmed that the two passengers in the vehicle were pronounced dead immediately.

The statement released by Walker’s camp reads as follows:

It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences.

Friends of Paul’s also posted on his Facebook wall, talking about the last moments they spent with their friend.

Bill Townsend I was with Paul today. He was surrounded by friends, talking about cars, seeing hundreds of gifts brought for kids to give out by charity. The news is terribly sad. The world lost an angel and Heaven gained one. I’m going to commit to helping ensure the Paul’s charity lives on and that his love of cars and people, especially children, will be remembered forever.

Paul Walker posted this Tweet about his interview with Fandango for the film Hours just a few days ago:

We bow our heads in silence for Paul today. He will be missed.
