Meredith Marks Feud: Legal Threat Over Airplane Story

Meredith calls Whitney’s drag-brunch claims slander and asks whether she should sue — then decides Whitney may not be worth the filing fee.

The Meredith Marks and Whitney Rose feud just got a lawyer-shaped shadow. Per Reality Blurb, Meredith threatened a defamation lawsuit against Whitney on Instagram after a throwback clip resurfaced of Whitney’s comments about the alleged airplane spat between Meredith and Britani Bateman.

The clip, from a drag brunch appearance in February, is not subtle. In it, Whitney declares she was on the airplane, accuses Meredith and Lisa Barlow of lying, claims lawsuits from people “way bigger” than her are the only reason the truth is not out, and says Meredith accosted Britani on the plane, per Reality Blurb.

Meredith’s response, per Reality Blurb, went straight for the legal vocabulary: “Yes it was a full flight. A lot of people were on the plane but somehow there is no footage from anyone, no repercussions legally or from the airlines. This is slander. Should I file a defamation suit against her? I didn’t think anyone was dumb enough to believe her but maybe I am wrong and need to take legal action.”

And then — because this is The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, where the read always outranks the lawsuit — Meredith undercut her own threat with a finances jab, suggesting Whitney was not worth suing: “Well, perhaps not. You can’t squeeze blood from a turnip,” per Reality Blurb.

Lisa Barlow also described Whitney’s comments as “slander,” per Reality Blurb, while Britani weighed in with the most Housewives sentence ever typed: “Absence of Evidence is not Evidence of Absence.” Context matters here, per Reality Blurb: rumors of a secret recording of the reported airplane encounter have floated around the cast, but when Whitney was pressed at the brunch about possible footage, she said she could not answer.

So where does this leave us? With no lawsuit filed, per the reporting — just a public threat, a turnip insult that will absolutely be quoted at the reunion, and an airplane story that has now survived an entire season cycle without a single frame of video. On RHOSLC, that does not make it less powerful. It makes it immortal.
