Well, file this under love stories nobody had on their bingo card — and now nobody wants to give back. Billy Ray Cyrus and Elizabeth Hurley are engaged, sources confirmed to Page Six on Friday, October 16.
Cyrus, 65, recently popped the question to Hurley, 61, according to Page Six. A representative for Cyrus could not be reached for comment, per Page Six, and neither star has announced a wedding date. But honestly? The clues were sparkling in plain sight all week.
Hurley first set the rumor mill spinning on Monday, when she shared Instagram photos wearing a massive diamond ring. A source brushed aside the idea that it was just a costume piece, telling Page Six that Hurley is filming “The ‘Burbs” and adding, “I hardly think this ring is a prop.”
Cyrus then poured a little gasoline on the sparkle on Thursday, October 15. In an Instagram post promoting his new single “Party’s in the Back” with Deltona and a weekend show teaming up with NASCAR in Phoenix, he slipped in a ring emoji and joked that the occasion “kinda has a ring to it,” per Page Six. Hurley’s son, Damian Hurley, liked the post with a celebratory emoji, according to Page Six — not exactly the move you make if you want the rumors to calm down.
If you are just catching up, this romance has a proper meet-cute. The pair first met in 2022 while filming the holiday movie Christmas in Paradise, according to Page Six and Just Jared. They stayed friends for years, reconnected in February 2025, per Page Six, and went public on Easter Sunday in 2025. Just Jared notes they went Instagram official in April 2025 and made their red-carpet debut as a couple the following month at an event in Italy.
What charmed fans was how cheerfully the couple leaned into being an unlikely pairing — and then kept explaining, quite convincingly, that they are not so unlikely at all. Hurley said on the “SheerLuxe” podcast earlier this month that there are “a lot more similarities than you’d think,” per Page Six, and joked about the two of them having nearly identical hair. Speaking to Page Six in May, she said they connect over country life, noting that Cyrus’s farm in Tennessee feels very similar to her farm in Gloucestershire.
She gave People a similarly cozy picture in June, per Page Six, describing days spent gardening with power tools while Cyrus played guitar under a tree, watching birds of prey and lighting bonfires.
This will be the fourth marriage for Cyrus and the second for Hurley, according to Page Six. Cyrus, who has six children including Miley Cyrus, was previously married to Cindy Smith, to Tish Cyrus, and to Firerose, per Page Six and Just Jared. Hurley was previously married to businessman Arun Nayar and has one child, Damian, with the late producer Steve Bing, per Page Six.
