PALM SPRINGS, Calif. — October 16, 2026 — Author Emilio Ricci has released The Covenant of Five — Book One: The Breaking Dark, his debut novel and the first book in a planned seven-book young adult fantasy series. The Kindle edition is available now on Amazon for $3.99 and is enrolled in KDP Select, free to read for Kindle Unlimited members. A paperback edition is in preparation.
Aria, Phoenix, Emma, and Chloe are four ordinary teenagers carrying an impossible inheritance: each holds the power of an element — air, fire, earth, water. Bound together as a coven, they are the last living defense of the Weave, the magic that holds their world together. And someone is hunting them, one seat at a time.
To survive, the four must find the one the wind itself has chosen as its replacement: Atlas Burke, a boy who has never cast a spell in his life. Together they will learn the Weave-tongue — the old language of element and verb, real witchcraft with rules worth learning — train in secret, and follow the killer’s trail from a midnight basement working to a prom night no one will forget.
But the war between Light and Dark that everyone blames for the murders was built on a lie. And the truth behind the wind witch’s death is worse than any of them imagined.
The Breaking Dark opens a series that follows its coven from their teens into adulthood, maturing from YA fantasy into adult dark fantasy as the characters age. Book Two is already in development.
