After nearly six years away, CHVRCHES are back with a new album, a lead single with teeth, and a 2027 tour that starts in Philadelphia.

Six years is a long time to leave a synth-pop crown sitting in a drawer. Per The Music Universe, CHVRCHES have announced All The King’s Men, their first album in almost six years, due January 22 via Futures Music Group in LP, CD, cassette and digital formats — and they are backing it with an extensive run of shows across North America, the UK and Ireland starting in February 2027.
The trio — Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty — paused in 2023 after touring their fourth album, Screen Violence, with a shared agreement that whatever came next had to challenge them. The Music Universe describes the result as a self-consciously British, freewheeling collection of 11 tracks of vividly emotional indie rock that fans will not expect. The band scrapped remote writing and instead worked in intense three-week stints together in Glasgow, with Doherty reconnecting with gritty British cinema, Mayberry sharpening her storytelling after her solo work, and Cook leaning toward acoustic instruments and folk influences.
Fans already have the first taste. “Roses,” released last month, is described as a scathing piece of contemporary social commentary, closing with the announcement, “If I may command your undivided attention, now we can start.” The full tracklist runs “Roses,” “Evil,” “Adore You,” “Overthinker,” “Royal Blue,” “Comedown Tomorrow,” “Friend Of A Friend,” “Three Out Of Five,” “Conman,” “Jamie’s Prayer” and “Faith In Flying.”
The live rollout is just as deliberate. Next week the band plays two intimate charity shows — Glasgow on October 26 and London on October 29 — which The Music Universe reports sold out immediately. The 2027 tour then opens February 13 in Philadelphia and hits Brooklyn, Washington, DC, Chicago, Seattle, Oakland, San Diego and Los Angeles on March 14, before UK and Ireland dates in April and May. Presales start October 27 in North America and October 28 in the UK and Ireland, with the general sale on October 30 at 10 a.m. local venue time.
What makes this return different from a standard reunion lap is the risk built into it. This is a band that built its name on gleaming electronics choosing to write about British and Scottish culture, in the room together, with folk records on the turntable. If “Roses” is the mission statement, the synths now come with a snarl — and the fans who waited six years are getting a reinvention, not a repeat.
The 247 Take — CHVRCHES could have come back playing the hits on a nostalgia circuit and nobody would have blamed them; instead they went home to Glasgow and made the strangest record of their career. That is exactly how a comeback earns a second act.
