Amy Jo Johnson Happy to Be Alive After Jet Scare

Amy Jo Johnson went to Las Vegas to watch Donnie Wahlberg close a residency — she left with a plane story she will be telling for the rest of her life.

“Happy to be alive” is not a caption anyone plans to write after a concert weekend. Per Page Six, Amy Jo Johnson said exactly that after the private jet carrying her, her boyfriend Matt Hotson, Donnie Wahlberg and others skidded off a Las Vegas runway on Sunday.

Johnson was aboard a Dassault Falcon 50 that failed to get airborne during takeoff at Harry Reid International Airport, per Page Six. The plane ran out of runway and crashed into a fence, closing two runways and causing flight delays. The jet skidded off Runway 1L and hit one of the airport’s perimeter fences, and no injuries were reported. The FAA temporarily halted flights after declaring an “aircraft emergency,” while two runways were closed for inspection, per Page Six.

“It was an eventful weekend. That’s for sure. Watching the incredible Donnie Wahlberg and his mates crush it in their last show in Vegas,” Johnson, 56, wrote on Instagram Monday, per Page Six. “And then surviving a very hairy plane situation. But we did. And I’m grateful and very happy to be alive!” The actress, who played Kimberly Hart on “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” from 1993 to 1995, shared several photos documenting the ordeal, including a shot from inside the aircraft and an image showing the plane’s wing striking the fence, per Page Six. The flight crew was seen praying on the tarmac alongside Wahlberg after the incident.

Wahlberg, 57, answered in Johnson’s comments: “You rock Amy Jo! So thankful for you, and for my buddy Matt! So very blessed!” per Page Six, referencing Hotson, a “Power Rangers” writer. In his own Instagram video Monday, Wahlberg reassured fans and credited the pilots with preventing something far worse. “We’re all OK. I’m OK. We were taking off and didn’t get up in the air and ran out of runway,” he said, per Page Six. “I’m just going to tell you these pilots saved our lives. And God covered us.” He said the pilots managed to avoid fences, trucks, heavy equipment and dumpsters as the jet veered off the runway, adding: “God is good. We had just finished praying, and I looked out the window and said, ‘We are not getting up in the air today.'” And: “But we’re safe and thankful and all is well. Don’t worry.”

The trip itself was meant to be pure celebration. Wahlberg had traveled to Las Vegas for New Kids on the Block‘s residency, The Right Stuff, at Dolby Live inside Park MGM, and Johnson attended the show with Hotson as the group wrapped its run over the weekend, per Page Six.

What makes this story stick is not just the scare — it is how quickly both passengers turned it into gratitude, in public, by name: for the pilots, for each other, and for a crew photographed praying on the tarmac. Plenty of celebrity travel stories end with a complaint about a delay. This one closed two runways at a major airport and ended with everybody walking away calling themselves blessed. That is the whole headline, and both of them know it.

The 247 Take — Johnson survived the weekend as the Pink Ranger would have: shaken, honest about being scared, and giving the credit to the people who actually saved the day — the pilots. Everyone walked away, and that is the only review of this flight that matters.
