(CelebNMusic247 News)  Will Ferrell Anchors News As Ron Burgundy

Anchorman 2 star Will Ferrell aka Ron Burgundy joins the news cast at local news team in North Dakota!

Local news viewers in the North Dakota capital got a spirited surprise on Saturday night, when “Anchorman” star Will Ferrell joined their usual evening newscast as a guest anchor.

Stay classy, Bismarck!

Completely in character as the infamous Ron Burgundy, Ferrell, 46, read the local Bismarck happenings without so much as cracking a smile — but his fellow newsreaders could barely keep a straight face.

Here’s the drop:

Amber Schatz, Ferrell’s co-anchor for the night, told The Associated Press Sunday:

“The second he said, ‘Good evening, I’m Ron Burgundy,’ I lost it.”

“It was really hard not to laugh.”

The celebrity drop-in was the latest shenanigan in the “Anchorman 2” marketing campaign, which has included several television commercials, a Ron Burgundy exhibit at the Washington, D.C. Newseum, and a new Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream flavor named for Burgundy’s favorite “Scotchy Scotch Scotch,” according to the AP.

In true Ferrell style, the actor occasionally strayed from the news script to crack a few jokes.

“I’ve never seen fighting in a hockey match before,” Ferrell says after the sports segment. “That was fascinating.”

Schatz, who has worked at the news station for eight years, even had an awkward exchange with Burgundy when he comments on how “lovely” she looks.

When Schatz told him she wasn’t married, Ferrell replied, “Well I am, so don’t get any ideas.”

Burgundy’s signature “stay classy” catchphrase didn’t make air because he jokingly missed his cue.

Instead, Ferrell ends with “What? Am I supposed to read that?”
