BottleRock 2017 made its first miles stone this year with its 5th year anniversary in the Napa Valley, and all we can say is that, “it’s getting better all the time!”
BottleRock 2017 was a sure standout this time around and we have many reasons why…
ANDREA DAY
CelebNMusic247.com was at one of the best amusement parks of music, fun, drink, and culinary delight at BottleRock 2017.
SECURE THE SUN
To us, BottleRock is one of the best music festivals every year. It gives music lovers a lot of what the other festivals don’t. First, this year BottleRock 2017 gave a non-stop line-up that had music lovers in a music coma of amazing sight and sound.
Friday – Day 1:
WARREN G
The festival kicked things off with standout performances by The Heydaze, Saint Motel, Gnash, Hirie, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Silversun Pickups, Fritz & the Tantrums, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Day Wave, The California Honeydrops, and Bob Moses. The headliners who closed the night out were Modest Mouse, Galactic, Maroon 5 and Warren G.
ANI DIFRANCO
The artist that impressed us the most on Friday were The Heydaze, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Silversun Pickups, Fritz & the Tantrums, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Modest Mouse is always great live, but we have to say we were blown away by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. What a awesome performance. Catfish & The Bottlemen killed it, and Silversun Pickups were perfection. Fritz & the Tantrums continues to get better every-time we see them.
HIRIE
For us it was all about Warren G. He killed it on Friday night with a stellar show that had fans packing into the Lagunitas stage. We recommend more bleachers at the Toss-a-cross area and move that somewhere else for 2018. Because that is a great stage for the 80s and 90s bands.
RUN RIVER NORTH
Our other standouts for Day 1 (Friday) were Catfish & The Bottlemen, Silversun Pickups, Fritz & the Tantrums, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. all we can say is OMG they were so good.
Saturday – Day 2:
THE HELMETS
The music amusement park of fun continued at BottleRock 2017 with great performances by Dreamers, City of the Sun, Pell, The Shelters, 888, Mavis Staples, The Devil Makes Three, Judah & The Lion, Andrea Day, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Run River North and Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals. Two more standouts for Saturday was SoCal favorite of ours Dirty Heads who had fans going wild at the Samsung stage, while Caribbean artist Aluna George who lit up the Miner Family Winery Stage. One of the most live shows of the day goes to hip hop legends House of Pain who took over the Samsung stage and had everyone jumping around to “Jump Around.”
TOM PETTY
Closing Day 2:
It was all about rock icon Tom Petty and The Hearbreakers. Being a longtime fan of Petty, we have to say he was just as amazing as always. His performance was stellar. Petty took us back to the 70’s and 80s when we were 10 going to his concerts. At 68-years-old, Petty is a must see rocker live.
THE SHELTERS
If you hadn’t had enough great music already, BottleRock 2017 continued with a third day with a day of straight up music bliss.
Sunday – Day 3:
FOO FIGHTERS
It kicked off with heavy rock band The Helmets who are all 12 and 13-years-old. You might have heard of The Helmets since Tye Trujillo (12) bass, is the son of Metallica’s bassist Robert Trujillo. Tye and his band-mates Bastian Evans (12), guitar & back-up vocals, Kai Neukermans (12), drums, and Bryan Ferretti (13) guitar & vocals, know how to rock hard. Plus at this age, rock fans can expect some head bangers when these guys hit 17 and 18-year-old.
THE NAKED AND FAMOUS
Next, our list of standouts include Cobi, SWMRS, Parade of Lights, The Strumbellas, St Lucia. Continuing on with one of the mega standout performance, we have to say it was R&B/funk sensation Con Brio. They were nothing less than utterly impressive. The whole time 21-year-old phenom Ziek McCarter had us wowed as he enchanted the audience with his James Brown/Prince style moves that had the ladies screaming for more. From the splits to spins and more McCarter is a true performer and gifted singer. Truly an astonishing performance you have to see live. If you love James Brown and Prince, then you need to get into Con Brio.
HIGHLY SUSPECT
Day 3 continued:
SAINT MOTEL
More great sets came from Gavin Degraw, Naked and Famous, Band of Horses and Highly Suspect. The night got turnt up with a incredible set by The Roots, who are always great live. Followed by an ineradicable performance by the Foo Fighters after a two year hiatus. Dave Grohl was everything, as the Foo Fighter played until the turned him off. Grohl stated “We don’t do encores we play until they turn us off.” And that they did.
For those who we not into hip hop or rock, BottleRock 2017 gave fans another alternative with Giraffage, a electronic music set that had fans dancing into the night. We really enjoyed the assortment of music this year. There was so many choices for everyone.
LIVE
Overall, BottleRock 2017 was one of the best years at the festival, but like we always say, until next year.
