The Mondays’ maraca man says the Gallaghers’ comeback lifted the whole Manchester scene — and that Heaton Park blew him away. The Bez Happy Mondays verdict is that the reunion lifted the whole scene.

The Oasis reunion didn’t just fill stadiums — it floated the whole of Manchester. That’s the verdict of Happy Mondays dancer Bez, who told BBC Radio Stoke that the Gallagher brothers’ comeback has “given us a push as well,” per Music-News.

“We’re lucky enough to be part of that Manchester scene which, at the time, grew so big it was unbelievable,” the 62-year-old said. “We’ve got that legendary status from that time, and of course Oasis coming back last year helped all things Manchester again, so I think that’s given us a push as well.”
Bez didn’t just watch the Oasis Live ’25 tour — the Britpop icons’ first tour in 16 years — from a distance. He was in the crowd at Heaton Park, and he came away converted all over again. “It’s absolutely incredible, the phenomenon of Oasis,” he said. “I was actually blown away by it all, both to see them at Heaton Park and to see hordes of young people all running around. It was just an incredible moment.”
The push is set to roll on. Oasis have announced the Live ’27 tour, demand has brought extra shows, and the run includes a six-night Knebworth residency — a new record for the estate, passing Robbie Williams’ three-night stand in 2003. Liam Gallagher has also been teasing fans on X about new music, replying “8 including the new 1” when a fan counted seven great Oasis albums, and telling another that if the tour goes well, “next step is to have a chat about new music.”
Bez Happy Mondays: The 247 Take
The 247 Take — Bez has shaken maracas through every era Manchester has thrown at him, so when he says the rising tide lifted the Mondays too, believe him. The reunion economy is real: one generation’s comeback becomes everybody’s booking, and nobody in that scene is complaining. If Live ’27 ends with Oasis talking about a new album, the Madchester old guard may end up with more than a push — they may get a whole second summer.
