House/EDM lane — and few names carry more weight in it than Orbital. Per the announcement reporting, brothers Paul and Phil Hartnoll will return in 2027 with Other, their 11th studio album, released by London Records on March 19, 2027, followed by The Other Tour opening in Dublin on April 8.
The first single is out now, and it is not a safe comeback record. “Mother, Maiden & Crone,” featuring award-winning actor Maxine Peake, draws on witchcraft and folklore, pairing gothic synth lines with Peake’s séance-like vocals. Per the announcement, it is Orbital’s first new material since 2023’s Optical Delusion, which reached No. 6 on the UK Official Albums Chart — their first UK Top 10 album since 1999’s Middle of Nowhere — and No. 1 on the Official Dance Albums Chart.
Orbital Other: Exploring Otherness
The album’s theme is right there in the title. Per the announcement, Other explores otherness — neurodiversity, identity, outsiders, and the freedom to exist beyond society’s prescribed categories — and moves through gothic folk, drum & bass, punk and ambient alongside Orbital’s trademark electronic sound. That restlessness is the point: this is the duo that dragged rave culture onto festival main stages and never accepted “dance music” as a small enough box.
The tour routing, per the announcement: The Other Tour begins at Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre on April 8, 2027, then Limerick and Belfast before UK dates including Liverpool, Glasgow, Nottingham, Manchester, Cardiff, Birmingham and London, closing with European shows in Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, Berlin and Copenhagen in late April and May. Tickets go on general sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 23, with a pre-sale from 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 21. Pre-sale fans can also buy an exclusive 2LP + 1CD tour edition whose alternative artwork features an unticked “Other” box that Paul or Phil will personally hand-tick — available only during the October 15–22 early-access window.
Thirty-five-plus years in, Orbital are still making the strangest record in the room sound like the main event.
