The Cowboys’ top tackler and defensive leader Sean Lee exited Sunday night’s game against the Saints to be evaluated for a possible concussion and will not return.

Lee, who has a history of head injuries, was hurt on a play during the second quarter and taken to the locker room to undergo testing. It was reported on the NBC broadcast of the game that Lee will not return.

The 29-year-old leads the Cowboys with 33 tackles through three games. He missed the entire 2014 season with a torn ACL. Lee has never completed an entire 16-game season in his six-year career, and has missed games in past seasons because of concussion issues.

A long-term injury to Lee, the Cowboys’ emotional leader on defense, is the last thing the team needs with stars Dez Bryant and Tony Romo already out of the lineup with injuries of their own.

We wish him good health and recovery.
