CelebnMusic247.com and CelebnMovies247.com after dominating theaters for six straight weekends, Spider-Man has finally been knocked from the top of the box office.
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day has enjoyed an absolutely staggering theatrical run since opening on July 31, 2026. The fourth MCU movie centered on Holland’s Peter Parker didn’t simply become another Marvel hit—it became one of the biggest movies in cinematic history.
After soaring past an incredible $2.4 BILLION worldwide, Brand New Day became the highest-grossing solo superhero movie ever and, according to the figures provided, climbed to No. 3 on the all-time worldwide box-office chart, behind only Avatar and Avengers: Endgame.
Last weekend, Spidey added another record by becoming the MCU movie with the most consecutive weekends at No. 1 domestically.
But all incredible streaks eventually come to an end.
And this weekend…
Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman in Practical Magic 2 brought the magic needed to finally dethrone Spider-Man.

Practical Magic 2 Takes Down Spider-Man
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is projected to earn approximately $8.5 million domestically over its seventh weekend.
That’s still an impressive number for a blockbuster that’s been playing for nearly two months.
But it won’t be enough to compete with the arrival of Practical Magic 2.
The long-awaited sequel reunites Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as Sally and Gillian Owens, and the witches are reportedly heading toward a $30 million domestic opening weekend.
That puts Practical Magic 2 comfortably at No. 1.
After six weekends ruling the box office…
Spider-Man’s reign is officially over.
But calling this a defeat would be ridiculous considering what Spider-Man Brand New Day has already accomplished.

Spider-Man Could Fall to No. 3
The more interesting battle may now be for second place.
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey continues displaying impressive staying power and is projected to earn more than $8 million this weekend.
That puts Nolan’s blockbuster and Brand New Day incredibly close.
Depending on the final numbers, Spider-Man could finish the weekend at either No. 2 or No. 3.
There are also outside factors working against both movies.
The beginning of the NFL season means millions of potential moviegoers are staying home to watch football.
Schools are also back in session following Labor Day weekend, removing another major advantage summer blockbusters enjoyed during June, July and August.
But even with those challenges, Spider-Man is still swinging.
Seven Weekends Later and Spider-Man Is STILL in the Fight
This is where the strength of Brand New Day’s performance becomes especially apparent.
The movie opened July 31.
We’re now seven weekends into its theatrical run, and it’s still potentially battling for second place at the domestic box office.
That’s extraordinary staying power.
Most blockbusters experience huge opening weekends followed by increasingly steep declines.
Brand New Day, however, has turned into the kind of theatrical phenomenon studios dream about.
And it could remain inside the Top 5 for several more weeks.
Resident Evil and Forgotten Island Are Coming
Competition is about to get tougher.
Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil is expected to arrive next weekend, followed by DreamWorks’ Forgotten Island the weekend after.
Both movies could initially debut ahead of Brand New Day.
But here’s where things get interesting.
If those new releases experience significant second-weekend drops while Spider-Man continues holding onto its audience, Spidey could potentially climb back above them.
That means Brand New Day could remain somewhere inside the domestic Top 5 through the end of September—or possibly longer.
Not bad for a movie entering its second full month in theaters.

Spider-Man Is Chasing ANOTHER Historic Record
Losing the No. 1 spot may not even be the biggest Spider-Man box-office story right now.
There’s another record within reach.
According to the numbers provided, Brand New Day is closing in on the $936.7 million domestic total earned by Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.
If Spider-Man surpasses that benchmark, Brand New Day would become the highest-grossing domestic movie of all time based on the figures cited.
Think about that.
Peter Parker could potentially take down one of Star Wars’ biggest box-office records.
And after already collecting more than $2.4 billion worldwide, there’s little question that Brand New Day has become a cultural and financial phenomenon.
More Than 10 Times Its Reported Budget
The numbers become even crazier when compared with the movie’s reported production budget.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day reportedly cost approximately $225 million to produce.
Its worldwide theatrical gross has already exceeded 10 times that figure.
Of course, theatrical grosses aren’t the same as studio profit—movie theaters retain a portion of ticket sales, and production budgets don’t necessarily include the full cost of global marketing and distribution.
But even accounting for those expenses, there’s no question that Brand New Day has become a massive commercial success.
And the theatrical run isn’t the end.
There’s still additional revenue expected from premium video-on-demand, digital purchases and rentals, streaming licensing and physical media.
In other words…
Spider-Man still has plenty of money left to make.
What Made Brand New Day Such a Monster Hit?
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has been one of the MCU’s most popular characters for years, but these numbers suggest Brand New Day has reached another level entirely.
And its success comes at an especially important moment for Marvel.
For years, there has been constant discussion surrounding so-called “superhero fatigue.”
Some viewers have questioned whether the MCU can ever recreate the enormous cultural excitement surrounding Infinity War and Endgame.
Brand New Day appears to have provided Marvel with a pretty convincing response.
Audiences aren’t necessarily tired of superhero movies.
They may simply be more selective about which superhero movies they believe are worth seeing in theaters.
And when audiences decide something is an event?
They still show up.
And Now Avengers: Doomsday Is Waiting…
The timing couldn’t be better for Marvel.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become a $2.4 billion global phenomenon.
And next comes one of Marvel Studios’ biggest gambles ever:
Avengers: Doomsday.
With Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU in connection with Doctor Doom and an enormous collection of Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men characters converging, Marvel appears determined to make Doomsday another global event.
If Brand New Day is any indication, the superhero audience is still very much alive.
The question is whether Marvel can keep that momentum going.
CelebnMovies247 Take
Let’s put this into perspective.
Spider-Man didn’t lose.
After six consecutive weekends at No. 1, more than $2.4 BILLION worldwide, a historic MCU box-office streak and potentially another domestic record within reach, Brand New Day has already won.
Big time.
The fact that we’re even discussing whether a movie in its SEVENTH weekend will finish No. 2 or No. 3 shows how incredible this theatrical run has been.
And it took Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman’s return to one of the most beloved witchy franchises of the ’90s to finally knock Peter Parker off the throne.
So congratulations to Sally and Gillian Owens.
The witches finally caught the Spider.
But don’t count Peter Parker out just yet.
Because if Brand New Day passes The Force Awakens domestically, Spidey will have one more gigantic record to add to an already unbelievable 2026.
With great power comes great box office.
