On New Year’s day 2009, Oscar Grant was killed by Oakland PD, after they profiled him, just like Trayvon Martin.

His death untimely death could have been prevented, but brutality in the OPD will now be seen on film with the new movie Fruitvale Station.

Fruitvale Station stars  Michael B. Jordan, Melonie Diaz, Octavia Spencer, Kevin Durand, Chad Michael Murray and more in this riveting, disturbing and Oscar Worthy film that takes you through the last days of Oscar Grants life, family dramas and confrontation at the Fruitvale Station on New Year’s Day 2009.

Listen to Oscar’s family talk about the movie and how it hits close to home.

The Fruitvale Station stop on this city’s BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) system, is an unexceptional place. Stark and sterile, it is familiar to commuters as well as any traveler who has taken public transportation from Oakland International Airport into town.

And yet what happened there in the first hours of an otherwise celebratory New Year’s Day 2009 — the shooting death of an unarmed reveler, Oscar Grant III, 22, by a BART officer who confused his Taser for a loaded gun — lit a fuse of anger, frustration and ultimately hope that has stretched all the way south to Hollywood.

Here is actual footage from the incident that ignited outrage, fear, anger, and caused a riot at on the BART transit system at the Fruitvale Station  in Oakland, California killing Oscar Grant! He was innocent and had no weapon’s on him.

In the footage below you will see BART Police Officer Johannes Mehserle shoot and kill a handcuffed, restrained, unarmed man (Oscar Grant) laying on his back.

The footage is graphic and shocking:

You will hear angry onlookers  yelling at Oakland Police to stop and to let him go!

In 2010, LATimes reported on the sentencing of Johannes Mehserle after the above footage helped to put him behind bars for police brutality, profiling and murder!

A former transit police officer convicted of involuntary manslaughter for fatally shooting an unarmed man on an Oakland train station platform was sentenced by a Los Angeles judge Friday to two years in prison.

Johannes Mehserle, 28, contended that he mistakenly used his firearm instead of an electric Taser weapon when he shot Oscar J. Grant III in the early hours of New Year’s Day 2009. But prosecutors argued at his trial that Mehserle meant to reach for his handgun as he tried to handcuff an unresisting Grant, who was lying face-down on the platform floor.

In 2011, The Huffington Post reported on the shooting death of Oscar Grant:

Only months after being released from prison for the shooting death of Oscar Grant, Johannes Mehserle is headed to court in a civil case alleging that the former BART police officer used excessive force during the 2008 arrest of Kenneth Carrethers at the Coliseum/Oakland Airport Station.

In a case expected to hear opening arguments as early as this Tuesday, Carrethers has accused Mehserle, along with three other BART officers, of police brutality.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred only two months prior to the Grant shooting, the latter of which drew widespread condemnation and sparked a destructive riot in Downtown Oakland immediately following a jury’s conviction of Mehserle for involuntary manslaughter–a decision many found excessively lenient.

Fruitvale Station is a MUST SEE film of this summer. The controversial subject matter NEEDS to be seen and if profiling of innocent African American men and teens NEEDS to be EXPOSED so NO MORE killer or police like George Zimmerman are slapped on the wrists and set free.
