Ok Twi-hards and Hunger Games fanatics, there is another franchise gearing up to be a monumental saga like two of the most talked about films over the past years. And yes this one is another trilogy as well.
Summit Entertainment is setting their eyes one of their most buzzed about projects: the film adaptation of Veronica Roth’s novel, Divergent.
Trust us the buzz is about to begin and were giving you the drop on the NEXT NEW Hot franchise to hit the big screen.
Yesterday the project has already found a scribe in Evan Daugherty and will be making its way to the big screen by March 21, 2014.
Trust us on this – this baby is going to blow up BIG!
What the hell is Divergent? And why should YOU be excited?
Let us give you the drop:
Divergent is set in a future where America is divided into five ideological factions to stabilize society and uphold peace. Every citizen must choose a permanent faction at age 16 – either their own or another. Basically they are forced to choose to live in five ideological “factions” of their exceedingly controlled and structured society. The story’s heroine, Beatrice Prior, who is struggling to survive her initiation into the most aggressive and physically demanding of the factions. However, after choosing to leave a life of selflessness for one of fearlessness, stumbles upon conspiracy and treachery in the politics of her people and young love with a follow citizen who can’t seem to fit fully into one specific “faction”, which finds them both in the dangerous position of being labeled “divergent.”
Evan Daugherty is penning the screenplay along with a yet-to-be-announced filmmaker. Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher will produce under their Red Wagon Entertainment banner, along with Pouya Shahbazian.
Trust us, in about two years, every tween you know is going to be walking around in cliques, er, factions from the book which include, Candor (the honest), Erudite (the intelligent), Amity (the peaceful), Dauntless (the fearless) and Abnegation (the selfless).
