Stadium rock, your headliners are coming home. U2 will return to stadiums for the first time since 2019 on a new world tour billed as Carnaval De Luz Presents: The Greatest Show On Earth, according to JamBase, with the first dates announced on October 15 and reported by uDiscover Music on October 16.

The opening run is short, deliberate and entirely Latin American. Per JamBase, the tour opens at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City on February 23 and 26, 2027, moves to Estádio MorumBIS in São Paulo on March 10 and 12, and closes this leg at Estadio River Plate in Buenos Aires on March 23 and 25. Both JamBase and uDiscover Music confirm those are the only three Latin American cities the tour will visit next year — and that Beck will support all six announced shows. If you want a support slot with genuine headline pedigree of its own, that is how you book one.

Per uDiscover Music, Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. will also take the tour to North America and Europe, with additional 2027 dates to be announced in the coming weeks and plans for a return home to Ireland in the works. No North American or European venues have been confirmed yet, so treat any city list circulating on social media today as speculation until the band announces it.

The tour supports Carnaval De Luz, which JamBase describes as U2’s 16th studio album and first collection of new material in nine years, due November 13. The announcement arrived with fresh music, too. Per both reports, the band released “The Greatest Show On Earth” as the album’s third single, co-written by U2 and Brian Eno, alongside an Anton Corbijn-directed video shot in the Californian desert.

In a joint statement quoted by JamBase, the band called the tour title “a dare, to ourselves as much as anyone” — a short excerpt that captures the pitch: a veteran stadium act publicly setting its own bar at the best night of anybody’s life. Fans who caught the band’s 40-show Sphere run in Las Vegas in 2023 and 2024, noted by JamBase, already know this group does not think small when it designs a room. Now imagine that ambition stretched back across open-air stadiums.

The history underlines how long the wait has been. Per JamBase, U2 last played a stadium on December 15, 2019, when The Joshua Tree Tour ended in Mumbai. The band also recently marked its 50th anniversary on September 25 with surprise performances in Dublin, per the same report — a hometown nod that makes the promised Irish return feel personal, not just logistical.

Ticket timing is the urgent part. Per uDiscover Music, the U2.com subscriber presale begins Monday, October 19, 2026 at 10 a.m. local time, with remaining tickets on sale starting Thursday, October 22 at 10 a.m. local time. Set the alarm now, because six dates, three cities and seven years of pent-up stadium demand is a recipe for a very fast sellout conversation.
