Latin music’s chart year got its official scorecard in Miami — and música mexicana left with the loudest receipt.

Latin music’s biggest chart night belonged to Fuerza Regida — and to the superstar who was not even in the building. The 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards closed Billboard Latin Music Week on Thursday, Oct. 22, at the James L. Knight Center in Miami, airing live on Telemundo and Peacock with hosts Carmen Villalobos and Javier Poza presiding over 47 categories.
Start with the scoreboard. Fuerza Regida took home eight trophies in all: seven competitive wins plus the Billboard Vanguard Award. Their single “Marlboro Rojo” did the heavy lifting, winning Hot Latin Song of the Year, Global 200 Latin Song of the Year, Streaming Song of the Year and Regional Mexican Song of the Year. The group also swept its three duo-or-group fields — Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year, Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year and Regional Mexican Artist of the Year. Accepting the Vanguard honor, frontman Jesús Ortiz Paz kept it plain: the award, he said, represents “a 10-year journey, a lot of hard work and a great deal of effort,” and the band intends to “keep working” and “conquer the world.”
Bad Bunny followed with seven wins — every category where he was a finalist — including Artist of the Year, Tour of the Year, Global 200 Latin Artist of the Year, Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year (Male), Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year (Male), Latin Rhythm Artist of the Year (Solo) and Songwriter of the Year. Neither he nor Karol G attended, per USA Today’s report, and both still dominated. Karol’s four wins included Hot Latin Songs Artist of the Year (Female), Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year (Female), Latin Pop Song of the Year for “Coleccionando Heridas” with Marco Antonio Solís, and the inaugural Fan Favorite Artist award — the first category in the show’s history decided entirely by fan votes.
The album field told the night’s other big story. Peso Pluma and his cousin Tito Double P won Top Latin Album of the Year and Top Regional Mexican Album of the Year for their joint project Dinastía, plus Hot Latin Song of the Year, Vocal Event for “daño.” Peso added Regional Mexican Artist of the Year (Solo), giving him four wins on the night — a strong haul, even if his field-leading 17 finalist entries did not convert into the night’s biggest total.
Across the genre fields: in Latin pop, Rosalía won Latin Pop Artist of the Year (Solo) and Top Latin Pop Album of the Year for LUX, while Maná took duo-or-group honors. In tropical, Romeo Santos won solo artist honors and shared Tropical Song of the Year, Latin Airplay Song of the Year and Top Tropical Album of the Year (Better Late Than Never) with Prince Royce; Aventura claimed the duo-or-group prize. In Latin rhythm, Bizarrap and Daddy Yankee’s “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 0/66” won song of the year, Wisin & Yandel took duo-or-group, and Omar Courtz — also named Artist of the Year, New — won Top Latin Rhythm Album for Por Si Mañana No Estoy. Burna Boy was named Crossover Artist of the Year, and MAG took Producer of the Year.
The special honors framed the night’s generational handoff: Rosalía received the Billboard Hall of Fame Award from Juan Luis Guerra, Rubén Blades accepted the Billboard Icon Award, and Cristian Castro received the Lifetime Achievement Award. The show also staged a tribute marking ten years since Juan Gabriel’s death, with Carlos Rivera, Jessi Uribe, Pablo Alborán, Paola Jara and Yahritza y Su Esencia among the performers.
The 247 Take — Read the winners list as a map of where Latin music actually lives in 2026: música mexicana owns the songs, the albums and the room; the urbano king does not need to attend to win; and the fans, handed a vote for the first time, spent it on Karol G. Three power centers, one night — and none of them is fading.
