A fan page said she fought to keep a newcomer off the show. Dolores says she does not even know her.

Dolores Catania has heard the casting rumor, and she would like it noted for the record that she cannot fight to keep someone off a show she has never met. Per Reality Tea, a Real Housewives fan page claimed Catania and Melissa Gorga were blocking Juliette Collazo — a prospective newcomer previously linked to a possible New Jersey spinoff — from the revamped Real Housewives of New Jersey (RHONJ). Catania reposted the claim on her Instagram Stories with a denial: “This is completely false. I don’t even know Juliette, and I have absolutely no say in casting decisions for RHONJ.” She added a jab: “Let’s stop listening to these podcast bros who know nothing.”

A denial with a receipt attached

The rumor contains its own problem before Catania even swats it. The reason anyone wondered whether Collazo had been cut is that, per Reality Tea’s earlier reporting of Us Magazine’s October 17 list of who’s in and who’s out, Collazo was reported as one of three women who did not make the final cut. In other words, she was already out of a role she was never officially in — and now there is a story about who supposedly kept her out. Welcome to modern Housewives casting season, where the fights start before the cast exists.

Catania’s denial also points at the difference between cast input and casting power. Stars are consulted; casting departments decide. Her note that the show’s casting was handled by Sirens Media — “give them a shout” — is the kind of pointer that only lands because it is true: the decision was never hers to block.

The friend-of years

Whatever comes next, Catania enters it from a position the franchise created: two seasons in the reduced “friend of” lane despite starting on the show as a full-time Housewife, then being floated among the names expected back. A spinoff concept, a revamped flagship and a rumor mill running ahead of both — the Garden State has not had a calm casting cycle in years.

The 247 Take — Dolores Catania is the one Bravo star who usually says the quiet part, and that is why her denial carries weight: she did not say “no comment,” she named the absurdity — you cannot veto a stranger. But the bigger tell is that a casting rumor about a woman who is not on the show is moving this much attention. New Jersey fans are not starved for drama; they are starved for a cast. Every rumor, denial and podcast-bro theory is just the audience checking whether anyone is actually in charge of refilling the table.
