Have you been watching CMT’s wild new reality show Party Down South and can’t understand a dang word they talking about when it comes to Marlin’s, Sharks, Peacockin, Coonass and more?

Well Walt, Murry, Mattie and the rest of the cast break it down and teach you some southern diction.

We’ve got a southern slang translation guide to help you understand the language of the wild eight.

Murry and Walt explain Peacockin” – which is a struttin’ term for a male trying to attract a female.

Maddie Breaux enlightens us with the term “Coonass” – which means someone from Louisiana who likes to party and get dirty outside.

Shark hunting” is when ladies are out at the bar and looking for the hottest guy or the biggest catch in the room — which we have a feeling will happen a lot this season.

While Ryan “Daddy” Richards  gives his spin on scoring women in the car. – a “Marlin” is a hot ass chick, a “Snapper” is a medium hot chick and an unattractive girl is a “Mullet.”  According to Daddy, he admits he hasn’t seen very many marlins around Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.

He also explains Daddy Hard – means when you are partying really hard getting buck wild!
