Steven Tyler To Nicki Minaj: “I Am Not A Racist”
After Steven Tyler was dubbed a racist from Young Money rapper Nicki Minaj he has decided to issue a statement to clear the air!
On Tuesday, Steven Tyler issued a mea culpa for comments he made during a recent interview with MTV News after “American Idol” judge Nicki Minaj.
Which, Minaj proclaimed him a “racist” to the social media world the day before.
Aerosmith frontman revealed to the Canadian entertainment show:
“I apologize if it was taken wrong, Nicki.”
“eTalk.”
“But I am the farthest from (being a racist). I am the last thing on this planet as far as being a racist.”
“I don’t know where she got that out of me saying I’m not sure how she would’ve judged Bob Dylan.”
While on Monday, the 29-year-old female emcee launched into a Twitter tirade against Tyler, 64, for disparaging remarks he’d made about her alleged feud with fellow “Idol” judge Mariah Carey.
Tyler implyed that Nicki wouldn’t be able to spot talent if it were right in front of her.
Steven said:
“You just have to give your opinion. It wasn’t hard for me, but I would imagine it’s hard for some people.”
“They need a manager to say, ‘Shut the f— up, and just give them your opinion.’
“These kids, they just got out of a car from the Midwest somewhere, and they’re in New York City — they’re scared to death! If it was Bob Dylan, Nicki Minaj would have had him sent to the cornfield! Whereas, if it was Bob Dylan with us, we would have brought the best of him out, as we did with Phillip Phillips. Just saying.”
However, the female rapper didn’t take the criticism lying down, however, instead accusing Tyler of speaking ill of her just to make himself feel better.
Minaj tweeted:
“When Steven 1st went on Idol he was ridiculed by his peers & fans alike. Called a sell out. So what does he do? Ridicule the next judge.”
