Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Atomic Monster have unleashed the first official trailer for River, the chilling new slasher that reportedly had horror fans buzzing following its premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival.

River Brings a Terrifying New Nightmare to the Slasher Genre
Imagine being stranded in the middle of a remote river after sunset.
Your boat suddenly stops working. Your phone has no signal. Darkness surrounds you.
And then you notice something disturbing.
Someone is standing motionless on the shore, watching your every move.
That’s the horrifying setup for River, the feature directorial debut of writer and director Joshua Giuliano.
The story follows three estranged siblings who reunite for what should be a deeply personal journey: scattering their late father’s ashes along a secluded river.
But their emotional reunion takes a deadly turn when their boat breaks down, leaving them trapped on the water with no way to call for help.
To make matters worse, a mysterious, faceless killer has set their sights on the stranded family.
And whatever this terrifying figure wants, it certainly isn’t a peaceful family reunion.

The upcoming horror film features a cast that genre fans will definitely recognize.
Jane Levy, known for Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe, joins Jessica Rothe, who made her mark in the Happy Death Day films.
