Jay Z Trying To Dimiss Chauncey Mahan Lawsuit!?!
Hip Hop Mogul Hov continues fighting Roc-A-Fella lawsuit as Jay Z Trying To Dimiss Chauncey Mahan Lawsuit discrediting Mahan’s co-writing credits on 45 songs
CelebNMusic247.com has learned via Billboard that Jay and his lawyers argue that “After 14 years of silence, Petitioner’s claims (and his attempt to use the federal courts as part of his shakedown scheme) are outrageous and wholly without merit. More significantly, for purposes of this Motion, the claims are plainly barred by the three-year statute of limitations contained in the Copyright Act, and have been for more than a decade.” To recap:
Back in July, we reported that former sound engineer Chauncey Mahan had (once again) sued Jay Z and Roc-A-Fella Records for the partial ownership of 45 songs recorded with his help between the years 1998-2002. Now, Hova has filed a motion to dismiss Mahan’s suit.
The dismissal documents also reiterate that Mahan recently tried to extort Jay for the possession of master recordings.
