CelebnMusic247.com and CelebnHealth247.com report that in May Johnny Solinger announced on his Facebook page that he is suffering from liver failure.
At the time, Solinger, who was a member of SKID ROW from 1999 to 2015, wrote:
It is with a heavy heart I must let everyone know what’s going on with me and my health. I have been hospitalized for over the last month. I have been diagnosed with liver failure. And prognosis is not so good. As with most musicians I do not have health insurance and it’s very difficult to get proper care without it.
He explained to his fans his health:
I am currently under at least seven different medications and I need to have my abdomen drained off fluid that gets accumulated every couple of days. I have lost a lot of strength and will require physical therapy as well.
Johnny then reached out to fans for financial help, asking:
At the moment, I am looking into putting together some sort of fundraiser to help with the medical bills and with the palliative care, I will need in the coming months. I am kindly asking those of you who could help put this together to step forward. I would not be asking you all this if I didn’t really need the help, but sadly this is where I’m at.
Fast forward to now, Johnny Solinger’s health continued to deteriorate.
On Saturday, the band said in a post, following the death of Solinger:
We are saddened to hear the news of our brother Johnny Solinger. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and fans. Godspeed Singo.
The hard rock band rose to fame in 1989 with the hits “18 and Life” and “I Remember You” on their self-titled debut album. Solinger replaced the former lead vocalist Sebastian Bach in 1999.
A friend of the singer shared an update from Solinger’s wife, Paula, on a GoFundMe page that was created to assist the family with medical costs, saying “Johnny has passed. I was holding his hand. He went in peace. Thank you all. I will take a break from everything but please know I am forever grateful for your love.”
