ANCHORMAN 2: THE LEGEND CONTINUES

(CelebNMusic247 – NewsAnchorman 2 is Laugh Out Loud Fun!

Review: Will Ferrell is back as Ron Burgundy in the hilarious new sequel Anchorman 2 which is laugh ut loud fun!

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is one of the funniest films of 2013. Filled with politically incorrect humor, the move is riddled with intelligent and humorous scenes the will have movie goers falling out of the seats in laughter. In one of the biggest movie campaigns of 2013 Will Ferrell has been promoting the upcoming film as the puffed-up, blow-dried anchorman Ron Burgundy. From selling Dodge cars to appearing on North Dakota news, Ferrell is making sure everyone knows that Anchorman 2 is opening on December 18th, 2013 in one of the most ingeniously synergistic movie-promotion campaigns in a long while.

The original cast returns in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, the sequel to the 2004 comedy that introduced the fatuous, substance-free news reader, possesses all of the boneheaded gags and inspired lunacy of the original. This film outdoes the original touching on CNN’s real launch in the 80s. In Anchorman the 24/7 news channel is called GNN, which makes a pretty good point about the descent of television news and how it switched into a miasma of 24/7 speculation. Ron Burgundy (Will Farrell) is tapped as one of the news cast reporter to take on the early morning hours with his news team, Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), Brick Tamland (Steve Carell) and Champ Kind (David Koechner).

The film picks up in the 80’s with Ron and his now-wife Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) are living and working in New York, like Maury Povich and Connie Chung of their day. When Veronica is promoted and Ron demoted, he goes into a downward spiral drinking his problems away like most of American’s just to the extreme. When Ron is at an all-time low he gets approached by a producer with a brand-new news channel, GNN, which plans to change the face of news with a 24/7 news channel. The first of its kind.

Ron takes the offer and that is where the comedy kicks into overdrive when he goes out to assemble his old team. One of our favorite parts of the film is the cruise control joke, which we will say nothing about, so the jokes are fresh when you see the film. Once the team arrives to GNN, Ron, Brian, Brick and Champ are a group of as bumbling, arrogantly vapid fools who become the breakout stars of the new news network.

Anchorman 2 proves its comedic relevance and intelligence on screen. As expected, most of the humor in the film — which was written by Ferrell and the director, Adam McKay (Read the EXCLUSIVE interview with CelebNMusic247) pushes the envelope on many issues, like inner-racial dating, relationships, insecurities (like GNN secretary Chani played by Kristen Wiig), women in the workplace, female bosses (like Ron’s African American boss Linda Jackson played by Meagan Good), and social status. One of the second most hilarious scenes in the film is Ron having dinner with Linda and her family. FYI: when watching the scene it’s ok to laugh if you’re not African American. It’s meant to be funny pushing the politically incorrect envelope. The movie also has an all-news throw down that plays like an orgy of in-jokes and escalating funny cameos, as well as Ron’s classic set piece, as nonsensical an instant classic as his also de rigeur jazz flute solo.

All and all “Anchorman 2” is a delightful, hilarious, and sidesplitting comedy. In the words of Anchorman, “Stay classy, San Diego!”
