(CelebNMusic247) First Look At New ‘Robocop’ Reboot:
Filming has kicked off for Jose Padilha‘s Robocop reboot which began shooting in Toronto today.
Already, CNM247 has your first look from the set of Robocop aka Joel Kinnaman as the part man/part machine in his new coat of armor have surfaced online.
Robocop’s armor this time around is sleek, trimmed down design looks to give Murphy a more lightweight approach than the original. In terms of contemporary design comparisons, I’m thinking Dredd 3D meets Pacific Rim as Collider puts it.
It seems hollywood is going back to all the old movies and revising them because the studios are lacking creativity as usual. Once again we are revisiting a classic action hero movie, this time around its RoboCop. However, the studio is promising to give the film a whole new spin just like they have done with Judge Dredd, now retitled as Dredd. We will have to see if the Gritty new remake is worth the buck, because Total Recall was visually stimulating but lacked the intensity of its predecessor.
We’re hoping this film does fall into the flatline category as most of them do.
Currently slated to hit theaters on August 9th, 2013, Padilha’s Robocop reboot also stars GaryOldman, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jay Baruchel, and Jackie Earle Haley.
This must be one of the 9 franchises that Samuel is able to attach himself too since he is still reaping the benefits of his deal with Marvel. I mean super hero movies aren’t complete without Mr Jackson in them these days…
Did you know that August is the month for weak scripted films to release? The month before Labor Day is set for flops and box office bombs in hope to nabbed the end of summer crowds and rank high enough for a sequel.
Here’s the drop on the synopsis for the reboot:
In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.
Director José Padilha (Elite Squad) reimagines the tale of part man, part machine, all cop starring Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) as the title character, Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises) as the scientist who creates RoboCop, and Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers) as media mogul Pat Novak. RoboCop is being produced by Strike Entertainment’s Marc Abraham and Eric Newman, with Eric Carraro as Executive Producer. The film is currently in pre-production and slated for a summer 2013 release.
