It has been a week since the news of Linkin Park‘s Chester Bennington committed suicide. The music industry has been stunned. Many of Chester’s peers have weighed in with their tributes and statements.

His Linkin Park bandmates recently issued their first statement since the untimely death of Chester Bennington.

From Alice Cooper still baffled by Chester and Chris Cornell’s suicide, to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas installing a Chester Bennington Memorial, fans everywhere continue to sound off.

Alice Cooper weighs in on the growing “suicide deaths” in rock:

““It is really weird what’s going on right now. First of all, Chris Cornell was one of the most positive people I’d ever met in my life. He had everything going for him on every level … Same with Chester. I knew both of these guys pretty well. And they were not heavy drug guys, they were not wild, crazy, insane Keith Moon types; they were really solid, solid, solid and the last people I would ever guess to commit suicide. So I have no idea what’s going on with all of this.”

Now, we are getting the first statement from Bennington’s widow, Talinda Bennington who offered her first comments on Chester’s passing.

Talinda Bennington statement reads as follows:

“We had a fairytale life and now it has turned into some sick Shakespearean tragedy.” The singer’s widow has vowed to raise the couple’s children with every ounce of love she has, but she also wanted the Linkin Park community know that their support and love has been felt during this sorrowful time. Her full statement can be read below.  One week ago, I lost my soulmate and my children lost their hero-their Daddy. We had a fairytale life and now it has turned into some sick Shakespearean tragedy.

How do I move on?

How do I pick up my shattered soul? The only answer I know is to raise our babies with every ounce of love I have left. I want to let my community and the fans worldwide know that we feel your love. We feel your loss as well. My babies are so young to have lost their daddy. And I know that all of you will help keep his memory alive. He was a bright, loving soul with an angel’s voice. And now he is pain free singing his songs in all of our hearts. May God Bless us all and help us turn to one another when we are in pain. Chester would’ve wanted us to do so. Rest In Peace, my love.

Bennington leaves behind six children, three of which came from his relationship with Talinda. They wed in 2006, a year after he divorced from his first wife Samantha. He has one child  with Samantha and two more from his first marriage from a previous relationship with Elka Brand. They fathered one child and adopted her other son.

It’s crazy how all these deaths are so similar. Plus, the connections and similarity runs deep with Chris Cornell and the Seattle Rock bands. Chester’s suicide affected Korn member Head like a explosion of the heart and kick in the gut.
