“Always smiling even when it’s hard, just like his father! This home of ours ain’t perfect, but rest in peace in your perfect home now, my brother. Sometimes life hurts more than death when you lose a loved one. Terrible to love something that death can touch,” Montana wrote as the caption for the image on Instagram.

According to the New York Daily News, there was a “heavy NYPD presence” during the funeral. Doug Ellison, Chinx’s manager, vowed to “keep his legacy alive” and more. “His goal and his intention was to leave a mark and he’s done with that,” he said, fighting back tears. As part of his eulogy, Norman Seabrook, a cousin of Chinx and head of the Correction Officers’ union, noted the heavy police presence and also asked for a round of applause for the NYPD. Janelli Caceres, Chinx’s wife, was also witnessed mourning her fallen husband.

During the ceremony, many ruminated on Chinx’s relentless drive and pursuit at rap stardom. Family members also reveled at his playful nature and parenting skills with his three children.

You NEVER know how long you have in life. You’re here one day and gone tomorrow. It truly sucks that someone had to take Chinx life, his music was gonna be huge, his style was unique and he would have been a real contender in hip hop. Gods plan never makes sense, but taking another person’s life is WRONG on so many levels.

Rest In Peace, Chinx.
