50 Cent on the Eminem “Street Fighter” Song: Em Stepped Back for His Own Album
The dream lineup — 50, Eminem and a posthumous 2Pac verse — has quietly lost its biggest name, and the Pac verse’s fate is suddenly unclear.

It was one of the wildest soundtrack lineups ever teased: 50 Cent, Eminem and a posthumous verse from Tupac Shakur, all on one song for the Street Fighter movie. This month, 50 confirmed the middle name is out.
Speaking to the Associated Press at the film’s Los Angeles premiere on Monday, October 12, 50 Cent revealed Eminem had started building material for the soundtrack before stepping away. “Em, he put a couple pieces together for it and decided, because he got closer to his album, he kinda fell back on that, because he’s preparing his presentation for the next album,” 50 said, per AP reporting carried by HipHop-N-More and HipHopWired. Billboard, per HypeFresh’s account of the moment, flagged the reveal — delivered with a sly smile — as the clearest sign yet that a new Eminem album is close.
The backstory matters. 50, who plays Balrog in the film, first promised in December that he would get Eminem on board for the movie’s music. Then in July, on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, he raised the stakes: “I did something currently: me, Eminem and 2Pac,” he said, explaining that the Tupac verse was delivered by the late rapper’s estate from his unreleased recordings — and pointedly clarifying that it would not be AI, per HipHopWired.
Now the obvious question hangs over the whole record: without Eminem, does the 2Pac verse survive? Per HipHop-N-More, 50 did not say — and nobody involved has clarified whether the verse will appear on whatever track emerges, be shelved, or land somewhere else. Eminem himself has not commented; his last album was 2024’s The Death of Slim Shady, and his last collaboration with 50 was “Gunz n Smoke” from Snoop Dogg’s Missionary that same year.
The movie itself is already in theaters — Street Fighter opened Friday, October 16 with 50 in the cast alongside Jason Momoa, Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes and Andrew Schulz, per HypeFresh. 50 still gets his Balrog moment. But the soundtrack song that had the internet talking since July just lost the name that made it an event — traded, apparently, for whatever Eminem is cooking instead.
