Rapper Young Thug Sends Message From Jail To Hot 97 Summer Jam Fans!

Even behind bars, Young Thug is still finding ways to communicate with his fans…

CelebnMusic247.com reports that over the weekend Young Thug sent a message to his fans from jail during Hot 97’s Summer Jam 2022 at the MetLife Stadium.

Thugger was scheduled to appear at the annual festival but he is currently detained in Georgia on a RICO charge. Hot 97 aired a video package that featured artists such as G Herbo, DJ Khaled, and Polo G showing support for the “Lifestyle” rapper and fellow rapper Gunna, who is locked up on the same charge.

The video ended with a pre-recorded video message from Thugga, born Jeffery Williams, himself:

I just want to say thank you to all of my friends and my family for coming out and supporting us. You know, your support during this time means a lot to us, ya know.

As previously reported, last month, Young Thug and Gunna were arrested and accused of participating in street gang activity and conspiring to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. Prosecutors reportedly submitted lyrics from Young Thug songs to be used during the trial.

This month music executives Julie Greenwald and Kevin Liles launched the Rap Music on Trial: Protect Black Art petition, which calls on politicians to ban rap lyrics from being presented as legal evidence against artists accused of crimes. In his pre-recorded message, Young Thug urged his fans to sign the petition.

You know, this isn’t just about me or YSL, I always use my music as a form of artistic expression, and now I see that Black artists and rappers don’t have that, you know, freedom. Everybody please sign the ‘Protect Black Art’ petition and keep praying for us. I love you all.

It doesn’t appear that Young Thug will be released from jail anytime soon.

He was denied bond on June 2, as the judge determined he was a “danger to the community.” His team tried to get released, but it appears that he won’t have a chance at bail until at least Jan. 2023, per reports.
