(CelebNMusic247-News) Will Smith Joins The Wild Bunch Remake
Once again Will Smith is attached to a HUGE blockbuster remake the will have some hefty star power attached.
Will is in talks to star and produce Warner Bros‘ forthcoming remake of seminal Western The Wild Bunch.
Here’s the drop according to The Wrap:
The studio has been trying to bring the gunslinging classic back to the big screen for some time now, with the late Tony Scott the last director attached to the project.
Sadly, Scott is no longer with us, but that doesn’t mean that Warner has given up on the film, with Smith seemingly central to its plans going forward.
The new film will take place in a modern-day setting, and will follow a disgraced D.E.A. agent as he attempts to take down a Mexicandrug lord south of the border.
Brian Helgeland had previously written a draft of the script, but Warner is thought to be looking for a new writer to reposition the film as a starring vehicle for Smith. Whether or not he’ll sing the theme tune remains to be seen…
The original 1969 version of The Wild Bunch stared William Holden, Ernest Borgnine, Robert Ryan and was about an aging group of outlaws look for one last big score as the “traditional” American West is disappearing around them.
