Why Jim Jones Didn’t Sign Drake?
There’s a gang of reports speaking on Jim Jones could have been a much bigger boss, but everything happens for a reason…
CelebnMusic247.com reports that Capo had the chance to sign both J. Cole and Drake but turned them both down when the opportunity presented themselves.
But if you think about it, If Jim Jones signed Drake the hip hop world would have never had all the hip hop hits from Drake and Weezy.
During a recent interview, Jones explained why he passed on Drake.
Jim Jones said:
Drake definitely ran across my desk. I got a call from Alan Grunblatt, I think I was on tour, and Alan was like, ‘I got this guy named Drake uh he’s an actor he’s on Degrassi.’ I’m like, ‘Who the f*ck is Drake on Degrassi?’ He let me hear him rapping like this boy could rap his ass off.
Then I looked at him. I’m like, ‘Boy, what do you mean? What am I going to do with boy? He’s an actor, he’s in a wheelchair on the Disney Channel.’ I’m like, ‘Boy, I don’t know how to make this work out.’ Once again, I just wasn’t seeing past what I seen in front of me and sh*t like that.
Now to be honest, back then, everyone in the entertainment industry everyone thought Drake aka Aubrey Graham was a cast member of Degrassi, so nobody took him serious. We remember the chatter, and everyone thought Drake was a joke. The only one who saw the potential was Lil Wayne and Birdman.
So it comes as no surprise that Jim Jones passed of the actor turned hip hop superstar.
Capo had this to say:
