Missy Elliott has been a favorite of ours for years, and we still remember sitting with her before she took the stage with a broken leg in a walking boot telling us “the show must go on.” Missy is a timeless legend of hip hop and tonight at the 2019 MTV VMAs she was the 2019 Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award recipient. Continue on to watch Missy Elliott MTV VMAs 2019 performance…

CelebNMusic247.com has your front-row seat to watch Missy Elliott take you through all the years of some of her most iconic music videos and her biggest hits.

Missy Elliott didn’t miss a beat when she kicked off with her new single “Throw It Back.”

Then she kicked things into overdrive with a series of throwbacks , changing costumes seamlessly between elaborately staged and heavily choreographed performances of “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly),” “Get Ur Freak On,” “Pass That Dutch,” “Work It” (featuring an appearance from video star Alyson Stoner), and “Lose Control.”

Missy Elliott’s performance at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards was the best of the night, sorry Taylor Swift but your opening was a bit choppy vocally, yet still awesome.

Justin Timberlake, Lizzo, Timbaland, Lil Kim, Janet Jackson, Ciara, Pharrell, and more gave testimonials celebrating Missy.

Cardi B presented the award to Missy with the 2019 Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Past winners of the Video Vanguard Award include Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Beyoncé, U2, Janet Jackson, and Kanye West.

If Aaliyah was alive you know she would have been on stage performing with Missy. But we will say this, we know Aaliyah is watching from above saying “I proud of you girl.”
