CelebnMusic247.com reports that Tiffany Haddish who saw the incident go down right in front of her saw how Chris Rock’s joke truly hurt Jada Pinkett Smith.

Will acted like the type of husband every woman wants when she is disrespected by another man.

The Girls’ Trip star told the Los Angeles Times:

I think Chris was messy. As a woman who had a husb, I wish my husb wld have stood up 4 me the way (Will) stood up for (Jada). That’s what every woman wants, right? She was hurt. And he protected his wife. And that’s what a man is supposed to do.

Oscar host and fellow comedian played it off when she came back on the Oscars saying, “Did I miss something?”

The Life and Beth star joked after Will’s win said:

I’ve been getting out of that Spider-Man costume. Did I miss anything? There’s, like, a different vibe in here.

Thankfully, One Tree Hill alum Sophia Bush put the incident in perspective sharing on Twitter:

Violence isn’t ok. Assault is never the answer.

But then she points out how Chris Rock was out of line and cruel, saying:

Also? This is the 2nd time that Chris has made fun of Jada on the #Oscars stage, & tonight he went after her alopecia. Punching down at someone’s auto-immune disease is wrong. Doing so on purpose is cruel. They both need a breather.

Chris Rock was just being cruel.
