Sorority Sisters Cast Talks Backlash!?!
In a special episode title “The Dialogue” Sorority Sisters Cast Talks Backlash from the Black Greek organizations.
The ladies talk about their letters being taken away since the Black Greek organizations feel that they have misrepresented their Sororities and what they stand for.
First we would like to say two things about the show. We’ve watched the first three episodes and the one thing that we noticed is that the some of the ladies are straight up rude and insulting. The show does exactly display sisterhood and we feel that the title of the series is complete misleading, but what do you expect from the ratchet TV guru, Mona Scott-Young. She thrives on ratchet and exploiting her own people for the all mighty dollar, fame and success.
However, the ladies of the Sorority Sisters (Adrene, April, Cat, Joy, Lydia, MeToya, Priyanka, Shanna and Veronica) all signed on to the reality series to give viewers a glimpse of their lives.
They all come from different Universities, but the one thing they “share” is sisterhood. Something the series falls short of since it focuses more on the ratchet.
The ladies debate and discuss why they did the show and if they feel that they’ve disrespected their organization.
When it comes to representing that letters and upholding Greek life in college the ladies of Sorority Sisters are speaking out in a special series to tackle the backlash, the criticism and the petition to have the show cancelled.
If you haven’t scene the series yet, well her is a scene that didn’t make the episode. It really should have because this shows the sisters actually trying to have a sisterhood. It’s something the show does NOT show.
Take a look:
What do you think?
Still NOT convinced that the ladies of Sorority Sisters mean well?
The here is what April had to say about all the ladies of the show. She says that all of the sisters are successful business owners and most of the ladies already have been successful before the series started. The issue in hand is this, “Are these ladies upholding the letters of their Sorority?” Yes and no….
The show is having major backlash and has caused major controversy in the Greek system which we feel is all due to title of the show. If it was something like Sisterhood or Alumni, it probably wouldn’t have offended the Sorority sisters.
As for, MeToya, she admits that she’s been up to a lot as a single mother, but she choose to do this show to tell her story about her struggle and hustle in her struggle within the hustle. She admits that she did NOT do the show for the money, but she wanted to tell her story. She admits that she and April don’t get along, but why does that have to be dubbed as ratchet? She questions why an argument or disagreement has now become ratchet.
We feel its the nature of the beast or as most call her Mona.
Joy, who is an actress, says that she did the show as an opportunity or stepping stone to better her acting ability and to overcome her fear on camera. She wanted to be true to herself on camera to prove to herself that she can become a better actress and decision maker.
However, Lydia, says she is a country girl, but she took the opportunity so that women like herself can realize that anything is possible. She wants to help women like herself and to push the envelope, think outside the box and to notice opportunities when they present themselves.
Shanna is thankful to be a part of the show. She is from a small town in Arkansas and the first child in her family to go to college. She did the show to tell her story. Shanna talks about being the only non-black in the Black Greek System – she also says that she wants to be honest to herself and tackling the haters on social media and the internet.
Then there isPriyanka, who says that she has been dealing with people calling her a slut, a stripper and have disrespected her by posting pictures of her in black face calling her a coon and a whore. She says that she is NOT going to let that get her down, but all the ladies say that they love how the show has brought the Greek System together. Unfortunately that the boycott is a disgrace to Greek life. Everyone has a right to having an opinion but threatening someones life is crossing the line.
Here is a scene from tonight’s episode as Lydia and Priyanka revisit what happened at the Come I Want To Lei Ya Party.
Shanna says if you disagree with her life or the show then stop watching! Threats, disrespect and hatred to the ladies on the series is absolutely uncalled for.
We agree!
Is the boycott pointed in the right direction?
There is a lot of deep rooted issues with the black community, but taking things out of context and using the power of anger in a negative light doesn’t help the Soror’s come together. Use the anger and point the criticism in the right direction like a charity or politics.
According to the ladies of the show drinking while wearing your letters is against the by laws of Greek life and the ladies point out how they see Greeks wearing their letters, drinking and fighting on social media.
MeToya says that she was contacted by her sorority that told her that she needs to get back in the cut and stay in her lane. While Shanna says that she was also contacted to do the show but did not contact the hierarchy of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Although they all got cease and desist letters, because they signed on to do the series.
April revealed (Tearfully) that she contacted he organization before the show aired. She said this was NOT about her sorority, it was about telling her story and when she asked about their position, The Delta Sigma Theta organization had no reply. Now that the show has aired, the organization is against the show.

Should they loose their Letters?
NO!
But that is our opinion. Though the hierarchy of the Black Greek organizations are completely offended, insulted, want the show pulled. The only problem is that VH1 has refused to do so and the series at this time will apparently will play out all 12 episodes.
Being a fraternity alumni of Pi Kappa Alpha, the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha and Delta Sigma Theta are only telling their stories. We have been watching the show and although it may come off a bit ratchet, that is the Mona Scott-Young machine. Having the organizations criticize the show is slightly flippant, because if they truly watched the show they would realize its about real women trying to tell their stories and how Sorority Sisters get along. However, many active sorority sisters have come at these ladies, which is way out of line. They look worse then the show threatening the lives of cast members. These women are Alumni, NOT active Sorority Sisters in college.
People we NEED to wake up and STOP the madness chatting about the Sorority Sisters. Do we all have too much time on our hands that we can’t just watch a show for what it is? You may NOT like the series, but if that is the case, then DON’T WATCH!
All the ladies said that doing the show and dealing with all the criticism has made them question their organizations and how people have become ratchet watchers .
The shows host Teneka Ray closes the special presentation with these words:
“The women of Sorority Sisters did the show on their individual behalves and not to represent of defame their organizations. Sisterhood is NOT about stereotypes, criticism, or judgement, but it is about supporting your sister and inspire healthy dialogue amung ourselves and within our community.”
