Rupert Wyatt Sets To Direct Channing Tatum In Gambit!!!
Channing Tatum will join the Marvel Universe next year as Gambit and now Rupert Wyatt Sets To Direct Channing Tatum In Gambit.
Next year Channing Tatum will be introduced as Gambit in X-Men: Apocalypse and then 4 months later on October 7, 2016 he will star in his own solo Gambit feature film.
CelebNMusic247.com has this report:
It was first reported that the 20th Century Fox project had been slow-going when it comes to finding a director, especially with the clock ticking and October 2016 looming closer. Reports swirled that Tatum reached out to folks like Bennett Miller (Foxcatcher) to take the helm, but EW now reports that Rise of the Planet of the Apes director Rupert Wyatt has been tapped to steer this particular superhero ship.
Remy LeBeau aka Gambit is a fan-favorite character from the X-Men comics. The character was first introduced in the 2009 X-Men Origins: Wolverine played by Taylor Kitsch (Battleship, John Carter).
We personally loved Kitsch as Gambit, but it seems that some call his portrayal as a misfire.
With the reboot of Gambit Tatum aims to jumpstart a new X-Men franchise as the series proper is currently at a high point; the 80s-set X-Men: Apocalypse currently in production.
Tatum is not only starring in Gambit but also producing alongside Reid Carolin, Lauren Schuler Donner, and Simon Kinberg. With a filmmaker now set, expect production to get underway soon.
As for Wyatt, he gained notice with his 2008 film The Escapist and then last year with Mark Wahlberg as The Gambler.
We look forward to the Wyatt/Tatum film coming in 2016.
Gambit is scheduled for release on October 7, 2016.
