RPG – Real Playing Game Review!!

RPG – Real Playing Game Review: Rutger Hauer is starring in the sci-fi thriller RPG which is out now on DVD and Blu-RAY February 10, 2015.

With sci-fi films like The Maze Runner, Ender’s Game and The Hunger Games, Rutger Hauer’s new film RPG [Real Playing Game] is cashing in on the trend.

Hauer stars in this Portuguese sci-fi thriller which is a delightfully complex film that uses a Hunger Games-esque plot line. As always Blade Runner’s Roy Batty aka Rutger Hauer, who made the film a cult classic to taking on a role where he can run wild as ageing man intent determined to staying young. The film has a great twist to it as Steve Battier (Hauer) enters a game where he takes on a Young Steve Battier (Cian Barry) where he must and 9 others are charged with having to kill each other off. Now here is the twist, each of the players must also identify their true identity from a list of possible candidates.

RPG is a fight for youth and what people will do for to keep it, which is a fascinating premise. We especially enjoyed the film since it allowed for a good amount of character development and mind games, with nobody being who they appear to be. The DVD is great home entertainment for viewers who like thrillers with a survival style story. What’s great about RPG is that the characters find themselves in bizarre circumstances and act differently, but can they truly hide who they are?

The movies slow start and the different character are speaking in their native tongue often suffer from poor line delivery. Though RPG plot overpowers any poor performance though, even if some of the dialogue is laughably bad. All and All we were happy with RPG overall since the film is smart despite a couple of bumps. It has good character development, shockingly intense killings, which shows a lot of promise. We would be surprised if the film gets a remake with a few tweaks to strengthen some of the issues the film suffers from.

We will say this, if you want something fun and thrilling to watch, then check out RPG, Rutger Hauer is worth the rental.
