Get the details on the shocking twist after Ric Ocasek cut estranged wife Paulina Porizkova out of his will before his untimely death in September. Read on…
CelebNMusic247.com reports that The Cars frontman Ric Ocasek felt that Paulina Porizkova turned her back on him and so he decided to cut her out of his will.
According to Paulina Porizkova was aware of Ric changing the will, she writes:
I’ve known about the will since the day after Ric passed. All you have heard from me since- is inspite of that. #loveneverdies
As it stands currently Paulina Porizkova will NOT get any of Ric Ocasek’s $80 million.
Ocasek wrote in his will, according to documents obtained by Page Six.
I have made no provision for my wife Paulina Porizkova (“Paulina”) as we are in the process of divorcing. Even if I should die before our divorce is final… Paulina is not entitled to any elective share… because she has abandoned me.
Per the documents, Ocasek’s assets include $5 million in copyrights but only $15,000 in cash and $100,000 in “tangible personal property.”
The singer was found dead in his New York City apartment in mid-September by Porizkova. The influential artist died from hypertensive and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, according to the NYC medical examiner.
Pulmonary emphysema was also a contributing factor in Ocasek’s death, the medical examiner said. According to the medical examiner, the manner of death was natural.
Ocasek was recovering from surgery prior to his unexpected death.
Porizkova and Ocasek met in 1984 while filming the music video for Cars’ hit single, “Drive.” The two wed in 1989 and split in 2017 — though their divorce was never finalized before Ocasek’s death.
Paulina explains her relationship with Ric over the past three years before he passed.
She writes:
Ric and I have been separated for nearly three years now. But we still lived together and still filled the family car.
Everyone who knew Ric knew that he could be aloof. And not particularly social. But when he decided to turn his focus on you, it was as if the sun came out. His smile and his gaze warmed you and made you feel like the most special person in the world. I had that gaze and smile on me for most of my life. For a long long time, no one could make me feels as loved as Ric. He was my sun. With this, I don’t mean my sunshine, no, Ric could be pretty gloomy. In fact, when we first met , he reveled in his nickname “the Master of Doom”. But in my universe, it was where he rose and where he set that was the point to which I oriented myself. Like a plant, I tilted my head to catch his rays. Our separation didn’t alter this one bit. He was rising and setting and I planned my life around it as one does a day: depending on the position of the sun in the sky: you’ll have breakfast or go to work or dinner with your friends. His death is the end of my world as I knew it. ? ???
Check out Ric and his two sons with Paulina, Jonathan and Oliver, together.
Ocasek also had four sons from a previous marriage.
