CelebnMusic247.com reports that Paula Patton’s fried chicken recipe has caused her to become a trending topic across social media platforms as people poke fun at her seemingly unique cooking skills.
Despite what people are say, the famed actress seems unbothered by the attention.
The Precious movie star Paula Patton, 46, shared a now-viral video to her Instagram account last month of her preparing her mother, Joyce Payton’s, “famous” fried chicken recipe.
During the video, Paula Patton can be seen rinsing off the chicken, flouring it, placing it in avocado oil, then adding Lawry’s seasoned salt, paprika and pepper to the meat while it was frying. Thanks to TikTok, the cooking video just recently went viral, and new viewers were quick to criticize Patton for a few things including; the chicken seemingly not being cleaned thoroughly, flouring the chicken before adding seasoning, and for adding seasoning directly into the cooking oil.

Well, that didn’t sit well with many black folks.
On Tuesday (April 5), while vacationing with her son in Mexico, Patton shared a video online defending her family’s chicken recipe.
In a post captioned “Peace, love and fried chicken,” Patton said:
I just wanted to respond and say listen, I get it. It might look crazy. It is the way we do it. My mom taught me. It is my mom’s recipe. I do believe in washing the chicken, maybe the way the video was edited it looks like I don’t wash it long enough but I definitely do cause I feed it to my son.
Patton then shared that the infamous batch of chicken was for her son and his entire school. She was graceful about her response to the haters.
She added:
We put the seasoning in the oil and all that, it’s just the way we do it.
