Outkast Kills it at Coachella Day 1 2014
After thirteen years Outkast finally hit the stage and reunitd for day one of the Coachella Music and Art Festival week one.
Andre 3000 and Big Boi kicked off their hour and one half set with “B.O.B’ and from there they took a journey all the way back to ATLiens, Aquemini (“Aquemini“, Stankonia) (“So Fresh, So Clean,” “Ms. Jackson,”) , Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. (“GhettoMusick,” “Bowtie,” “The Way You Move“) just to name a few. The only problem is their set ran over and suffered the same fate at ASAP Ferg who got cut because he could not perform his track “Work.”
Outkast ended the show with Hey Ya, but that was not suposed to be the last song for the duo. They were going to perform The Whole World with Killer Mike who was ready to takeover the Coachella main stage. Andre apologized to the fans, saying this is weird when we haven’t performed for 13 years on stage.
During the mid-point of the Outkast show it was the Big Boi and Andre 3000 solo performances. Big Boi has Janelle Monae join him on stage to perform her hit “Tightrope.” While Andre 3000 announced that his idol Prince was watching him from the sidelines. Dungeon Family members Sleepy Brown and Future joined Outkast on stage. Future debuted one of his new tracks from his upcoming Honest album along with a few shameless plugs.
Overall the show was great, it was just awesome to see one of CelebNMusic247.com’s favorite groups back on stage. They kept the high energy going throughout the show but sometimes the mesh box in the middle of the stage took away from the performance. The story behind the box in the middle is very interesting and we talk about it in Big Boi’s journey to Coachella. When is comes to visiuals Outkast rocked it. Overall it was a great start for their upcoming 40 city tour that has them hitting every music festival in North America like BottleRock Napa on May 31.

As for the rest of the performances, Ms Mr rocked it was funky bright Pink hair, The Glitch Squad, Martin Garrix blew the roof off the Sahara tent with banging house music. The Cult proved they still dominate when it comes to spirital rock music.
It was a great first day -despite a ASAP Ferg and Outkast getting cut short there were many surprise and great perfromances, ZZ Ward, Flatbush Zombies, Grouplove and Martin Garrix who just killed it.
