The Hustle Tries To Keep it Real-626-1

(CelebNMusic247-News) The Hustle Trying To Keep it Real?

The Hustle takes you behind the scenes of what it takes to make it as a rap star grinding!

The FUSE Network has its first scripted series about a group of friends trying to make it in the hip hop industry.

The Hustle-Fuse-permiere-kutta-626-1The series follows the hip hop duo, Brooklyn’s Finest trying to get their grind on in Brooklyn and make it in the music game. Their firend Ya Ya [Erica Dickerson] who the badass A&R chick trying to sign her boi’s while trying to be taken serious in the industry. Despite some unnatural opening scene and some less than adequate acting from her executive counter parts, lawyers and BF’s former manager, Erica keeps the interest and she shines in the role of Ya Ya. Later she is faced with an old love interest to add some dimension the plotline giving it a touch scandal and to show how backstabbing, manipulative and cold the music industry can be if you don’t have your A game on point.

While Ya Ya is trying to get a deal started Kutta [] is dealing with baby mama dram which ends in blows  as he and D [] beat down Freddy Gibbs on the set of Red Cafe‘s video shoot. D is just your stero-typical rapper getting blow jobs back stage and high on his own self. Though he tries to keep it real the label feels he’s the star of Brooklyn’s Finest and tries to break the street worthy duo apart. The label see talent in only one of them, but you have to watch to see who we talking about. Rashad [] is the comic relief of the four friend up against the world kind of like Entourage.

The show tries to be as real as possible, with the happenings behind the scenes, on the set and in the studio, but like all series there’s a bit of The Hustle-Fuse-permiere-d-626-1glamour that makes it look easier than it truly is. As for story-line that has some odd segways, the script seems to keep you interested, but after watching the first two episodes we hope the writing level gets a little stronger.

Now we are not saying we don’t like The Hustle, we feel it needs a bit of a tune up with the writing and some of the directorial choices when starting a scene. And before anyone discredits what I’m saying, directing/producing/scripting is actually my field and entertainment background so I do know what i’m talking about. When you watch the series which premieres on FUSE tonight at 10pm you can see what I’m talking about.

Bottom line The Hustle is about the grind, sticking together, and beware of who to trust – it about what it takes to make it the music industry.

The 6 episode series directed by Millicent Shelton [Ride and R. Kelly: The R. in R&B – The Video Collection] and produced by Happy Endings Prentice Penny. The first scripted series which kicks off Wednesday June 26th, at 11pm FUSE stars , , ,  and .

You can catch some cool cameo from Red Cafe, Freddy Gibbs, and Jadakiss.

Learn more about actor London Brown and his Hustle alter ego D, Y’lan Noel as Kutta and Erica Dickerson as the badass A&R scott Ya Ya.
