Suge Knight Says Game and K-Dot Have Slave Deals?
Is that Rick Ross? No it’s former Death Row CEO, Suge Knight who reveals that Compton’s Most Wanted rappers of the millenium Kendrick Lamar and Game have two of the worst deals in rap.
What Knight actually means by the statement is that the artist works hard to get their music heard, but at the end of the day everyone wants a cut leaving them with a small portion of money when they did all the work. Basically breaking down how label deals today are like contracts of willing slavery thanking the head honcho’s for “stabbing you in the back.”
Suge actually makes perfect sense.
Suge who is never one to bite his tongue speaks on his recent weed store dilema, and the lawsuit Dr. Dre hit him with. CelebNMusic247.com got the drop on all of the drama with Suge thanks to Arsenio Hall who had Knight stop by to sit in the hot seat.
Suge Knight has an interesting take on contracts with major labels comparing them to contracts of slavery. Suge reflects on his beginnings in the music industry. Teling Hall that he got into the rap game through rapper D.O.C., a Dr. Dre affiliate who lost his voice while his rap career was still on the rise, thus making it difficult to continue pursuing the game. As Suge tells it, D.O.C. had a really poor deal thanks to both Jerry Heller and Eazy-E, and that is what incited Suge to get in the business.
Suge who claims he is NOT trying to rebirth a new Death Row explains when it comes to Kendrick Lamar and Game, Suge Knight explains that the two West Coast rappers have two of the worst deals in rap.
Suge reveals:
“The deals are still messed up.”
“I think it’s unfair if you really look at it, if you look at Interscope, the two guys from Compton—Game, Kendrick Lamar—got two of the worst deals in the industry. And when you look at it, it’s not so much the production company fault, but what people don’t realize is that if you’re on Universal, it’s the ship. Then Interscope get they cut, then Aftermath get they cut, then G-Unit get they cut. Then the guy who really has Game signed, it was another production company, then it came to Game. The reality is there’s more slavery now than ever.”
Arsenio Hall adjusted what he said, saying, “not quite slavery”?
Suge replied with:
“When you were a slave you knew it was bad. When you was a slave, you was like ‘shit, it’s bad.’ But it’s worse when somebody make you be a celebrity and put you on a status and you thanking a person for stabbing you in the back.”
Hall jokes:
“12 Years a Rapper?”
