The Berlin trio’s four-years-in-the-making debut is streaming in full ahead of its Friday release — and it is wonderfully strange.
Wallensteins Garage is not the kind of debut a band rushes out, and you can hear the patience in it. Berlin prog and krautrock trio SEK are streaming their first full-length album in full right now via The Obelisk, ahead of its release this Friday, October 30, on Exile On Mainstream Records.
SEK — that is Paul-Willy Stoyan, Georg Edert and Lucas Kazzer, performing as Stoyan Edert Kazzer — built this record over four years in Berlin’s underground, after first making noise with two DIY cassettes, according to the release. That long gestation suits the music: prog gives it the ambition, krautrock gives it the motor, and the underground years give it the grit that stops either genre turning into a museum piece.

A Concept Album With Real History in It
The release describes Wallensteins Garage as a concept album and a historical meditation, and the two videos already out show how wide its lens is. “Die Schlacht bei Lützen” takes its title from a famous battle, while “Amore Mio” swings the other way entirely, toward love. History and heart on the same record — that is a band thinking in chapters, not just tracks, and it is exactly the kind of debut I want to champion.
Stoyan comes to the trio from Gavial, Edert from Elder and Gaffa Ghandi, and Kazzer from Gaffa Ghandi and Borders Down, per the release. Those pedigrees explain the confidence here: heavy-music players, stretching out into long-form storytelling instead of chasing a three-minute shortcut.
How to Hear It
The album arrives Friday on black vinyl bundled with a CD, and on digital, via Exile On Mainstream Records. The exclusive advance stream is hosted by The Obelisk now, so early listeners get the full record before release day — a proper first listen, in sequence, the way a concept album deserves to be heard.
You can follow the band and order through Bandcamp, keep up on Instagram @stoyanedertkazzer, and find the label at Exile On Mainstream Records.
And this debut is clearly a beginning, not a full stop. A Germany club tour is planned for Spring 2027, and the release says a second album is already in the works. Bands do not plan that far ahead unless the first record taught them they are onto something — and one full stream of Wallensteins Garage makes it easy to hear what they heard.
Give it an uninterrupted play before Friday. Records built over four years deserve more than a skip-through, and this one earns the attention.
The 247 Take — SEK have made the debut every prog fan hopes a new band will make: patient, strange and completely committed — Wallensteins Garage is a Friday release worth clearing time for.
