Rick Ross Attempts To Clarify Date Rape Lyric

(CelebNMusic247-News) Rick Ross Attempts To Clarify Date Rape Lyric

Rick Ross is trying to do some much need damage control, since he released a verse on Rocko’s song “U.O.E.N.O.” (pronounced “You Don’t Even Know”) referencing to date rape.

Things have NOT been good for Ross, especially now since a radio station has pulled all his music and refused to play it and the backlash has continued.

Here’s the drop:

During a recent interview on New Orleans radio station Q93.3, the Maybach Music Group rapper said his lyrics were misinterpreted.

Here is how Ross puts in the interview posted on Funk Master Flex’s blog.

“I want to make sure this is clear.”

“That woman is the most precious gift known to man. It was a misunderstanding with a lyric, a misinterpretation where the term rape wasn’t used.”

Ross continued:

“I would never use the term rape in my records. As far as my camp, hip-hop don’t condone that. The streets don’t condone that. Nobody condones that.”

He said he wanted to reply to his female fans that had expressed their concerns:

“I just wanted to reach out to all the queens that are on my timeline and all the sexy ladies, the beautiful ladies that had been reaching out to me with the misunderstanding.”

“We don’t condone rape and I’m not with that.”

In addition, Ross explained why he had not responded via Twitter:

“There’s certain things you can’t tweet,” he said. “There’s certain things you want people to hear your voice.”

On “U.O.E.N.O.” that appears on Rocko’s Gift Of Gab 2 mixtape, Ross rhymes about putting a Molly into a woman’s drink before taking her home and having sex with her.

Molly, also referred to as MDMA, is known to enhance sex and is considered a date rape drug.

Ross may have given a shout out to Rocko for his dope mixtape, but the lyric was uncalled for and Rosay’s attempt to clarify his date rape lyric was poor.

Let’s be real about the verse. You don’t have to say the word rape, because it is insinuated with the lyric itself. With Ross stating in a verse that he put a Molly (date rape drug) in a woman’s drink and then took her home and had sex with her reeks of rape. The insinuation is there, no doubt.

Does Ross think that we are a bunch of idiots with fool stamped on our foreheads?

Fans need to pay attention to lyrics a bit more, because there are so many hidden innuendos and statements made in hip hop lyrics. For some reason our stupid country has made rap stars role model when all they are is singers and nothing more. They are just like all us hustling to make a buck, except some of them have no morals and don’t care who the influence.

Let me ask you, do any of these rapers help, educate, teach or enhance a student or child’s education to get into college, get a job or stay out of trouble?

The answer is NO!

Let rap stars sing, don’t put them on pedestals and definitely do NOT let your kids think these guys are role models, because NONE of them are! They make plenty of mistakes and are in and out of jail for stupid ish…so role model they aren’t!

It has also been reported that some are not accepting of Ross’s apology.

D. E. Sanchez wrote in a post on Twitter:

“It is insulting & egregiously offensive that @rickyrozy’s explanation for his date rape lyric is that he didn’t use the word ‘rape.’ “___.”

The Sample Life, also complained:

“@rickyrozay shame on you for bragging about date rape, you have a daughter, you should make the world a better place for her to live in.”

More than 600 people have signed the Change.org petition, rick ross: Publicy apologize for glorifying drugging/raping a woman.

I’m also disappointed by Ross’s apology. It was a good idea to make it clear that he does not condone rape, but it is insulting to imply that the lyrics are not referring to sex without consent.

The lyrics are straightforward: He slipped a drug into a woman’s drink and had sex with her without her knowledge. He should have just admitted that the lyrics were a mistake that he regrets. But I’m sure an admission of guilt would not have gone over too well with Reebok with whom he just signed a new endorsement deal.

Rick Ross forgets his predecessors in hip hop and should most likely revisit MC Lyte’s “Mickey Slipper” and A Tribe Called Quest’s “The Infamous Date Rape.”
