Ne-Yo Getting SLAMMED For She Knows Video
On Thursday, Ne-Yo stopped by Good Day LA to give a first glance at his latest video “She Knows” featuring Juicy J but Ne-Yo Gets SLAMMED For She Knows Video by some viewers!
After Ne-Yo’s new stripper video aired on Good Day LA he had some watchers up in arms claiming the Ne-Yo new video was NOT apropo for morning television.
The 31-year-old R&B singer tips his hat to the kind of woman who is aware of her sex appeal and simply oozes confidence. As Ne-Yo puts it, the video is to empower women, but we question the word empower, when he uses visuals of women pole dancing in the video?
The is NOT what women like to be viewed as. Ne-Yo’s video is coming from a male perspective and women in g-strings and dancing on strip poles is NOT empowering. His video is conceptualized in individual stories – for example, each of the women have a story about who they are and why they decided to get into the sport of pole dancing. One of the dancers has a circus background, another is a stunt double and a third teaches classes at her own Los Angeles studio.
Does this make it right?
Well, according to Ne-Yo, he believes their individual stories give the song a whole new meaning and purpose. A woman “knows” she knows what she’s doing when she walks into a room.
“She’s smart, sexy, and she owns it. It’s about confidence.”
We understand pole dancing has become popular, but we are still NOT convinced that this video is leaning towards empowering women.
Check it, and let us know, because we know some people are NOT feeling the concept at all.
Here is what they tweeted:
Ne-Yo performs Oct. 14 at House of Blues Anaheim and Oct. 15 and 16 at House of Blues Sunset Strip. This is his sixth studio album Non-Fiction is expected to be released in 2015.
Do you agree?
