Mase’s comeback attempt is already in some trouble and he just started, but the former Bad Boy rapper has just been SLAPPED with a lawsuit by a model over his cover art.

CelebNMusic247 has learned via 4UMF.com that the Harlem rapper is being sued for the cover art that’s on his most recent single “Why Can’t We.” The beauty that’s pictured on the cover is Stephanie Delgado, who goes by Stephanie Rao for modeling. She says Mase stole the picture straight from her Instagram page without her permission.

That photo is still visible on her Instagram page. She posted the below picture in December, which is around the same time “Why Can’t We” was released:

Rao is seeking $60,000 in royalties and $180,000 in damages caused by Mase using her likeness to promote his single.

The suit is potentially the most expensive barb Mase has to face in his comeback attempt in addition to not having the Bad Boy Records backing that bolstered his career in the late ’90s.

Mase has also come under fire from his Atlanta church from going back on his religious duties with making music that’s sexually explicit. The rapper has claimed that his recent content aims to bring hip-hop and religion closer, but his church hasn’t been buying the excuse. There hasn’t been too many religious references in his recent songs either.

“Why Can’t We” hasn’t been too popular as a single either. The official Vevo stream has only amassed a little over 20,000 views over the past four months. To compare, Puff Daddy‘s video for “Big Homie” has pulled in almost 350,000 views.

Mase hasn’t responded to the suit and there’s been no word on what’s going on with “Now We Even,” which is supposed to be his comeback album after 2004?s mildly received “Welcome Back.” Fans have been waiting for new Mase material since his appearance in last summer’s OVO Fest, where he reunited with Puff Daddy.
