Then. Jimmy Fallon presented Justin Timberlake with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 25, making JT the 28th recipient of the prestigious award.

The Video Vanguard Award, also known as the Lifetime Achievement Award, is given to musicians who have made a profound effect on the MTV culture — something Justin has done ten times over. In 1991, the award was renamed as the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

This year, Justin, 32, was honored for his two decades of innovation in videos including “Cry Me a River,” “SexyBack” and ”Mirrors.”

After receiving the award, Justin said:

“I don’t deserve this award, but I’m not going to give it back. I’m taking this home. Every video director that I’ve had the fortune of working with, I owe this award to you.”

“Half of the moon men that I’ve ever won, I won with those four men right there [he points to ‘NSYNC]. So above all else — we can keep it at my house — but I’m going to share this award with them. This is truly an honor. Thank you so much.”

Congrats JT!
