(CelebNMusic247-News) Jay Z Picasso Baby Performance Art
Jay Z is taking his hip hop to a new level combining music with art as one with his new Picasso Baby A Performance Art.
Jay teamed with HBO for the release of his new video for “Picasso Baby” and held an art show in Manhattan which he termed as “a performance art film.”
It was a cool idea, but when it comes to mini movies or shorts lets give that lane to Kanye West. He knows how to dazzle the eye with his forward vision. As for Jay, the performance piece was cool and you can tell was all about the energy in the room.
To watch it, it comes off rather lackluster and boring, but it was a good attempt at something different. Jay Z’s new album Magna Carta Holy Grail is being thrown over the limit of mass exposure and with that said, this is his peak, but time will tell.
As for the “Picasso Baby” performance piece – it was filled with several well known media figures, including Rap Radar chief, Elliott Wilson, Rosie Perez, Taraji P Henson, and several artists and entertainers at the Pace Gallery in Manhattan.
Still, as Jay-Z described in the opening of the short film, “Picasso Baby” reflects the new age of his interaction with fans as the divide between performer and spectator continues to shrink.
Watch the video below:
What do you think about the video, because this is like open mic night, or poetry readings, and other events where real artists strive and grind to make it. This is not anything new, its just Jay Z jumping on the coat tails of other artist who are not as established as he.
Now he and Beyonce have jacking in common….What’s next Jay a slow moving portrait with real people in it, like Kanye’s video?
